We're taking our first trip together. We'll be gone 48 hours and spend about 7 hours travel each way.

Her cage is coming with us so she can be as comfortable as possible.

Here's the plan, two nights we'll be in a hotel. At checkout Friday we'll still have several hours of a conference left so Earlybird will be going to the conference with us in a small carrier.

*hopefully* she will be very quiet 😅. Here's the clencher, it's a Pastor's conference. So I'm basically taking her to church.

Here she is checking out the carrier.

What a lucky baby!

Going to church, eh? Remember what happened when I took the Riceybird to a blessing of the animals? The priest said he needed an exorcism.

Pictures of EB on the road , please?

I definitely will post pictures!

I did remember. Thank goodness she has only begun to talk. Lol. If she calls anyone a maggot I'll drop dead 😂

We're not on the road yet, but she's clearly ready to leave.

Let's hope that EB doesn't call anyone a maggot, although please, please, do tell if she does?

I will! I'm hoping and praying for no funny business from her in church. Of course, saying it I KNOW that's ridiculous. )

Been there, done that and go back for more every year!

Yes, we do this yearly and like with RB, there is always drama involved. Commonly, it starts with the Priest announcing that our favorite Amazon is back. This Spring as the Priest positioned himself in front of us and with a confident smile on his face he said; well it looks like things are going to be better this year! And then, everything went downhill.... Starting with WHO YOU? No, No, No, No Bath Today!!! Help Mama, Help Mama!!!

And then, the Priest finished and moved quickly away. Well, at least everyone else gets a good laugh. Followed by a: Yaaaaa, from guess who?

Confession is always so eventful after the Blessing of the Animals!

Traveling with Parrots is just one continuous, on-going, never ending event! Church is a place of assured smiles and laughter! As our Priest says 'Every Year': ....All God's creatures great and small "and even those with big voices." May God's blessings... I have come to believe that the membership present seems to grows a bit larger when knowledge of a Parrot is present! So, please do take your Parrot!

FYI: It is only fair to at least warn the Priest that he may have a little competition. Understand that you may end-up in the Families with small children section. Hey, its all good!

May your travels be blessed and the smiles and laughter enjoyed by all!

None. My wife has one too many. Kidding!
Folks, I was there when the Rbird defiled the blessing of the animals. The maggot incident was before my time.
So Sailboat, any point to repeat a try at a blessing? Have you seen any improvement?

Somehow the idea of Rickeybird being exorcised does not work out in my mind. I don't think that guy can blame his demons!!! ;)

We're on the way. She is having the best time already, chatting away looking everywhere.

I got the boing idea because she loves to ride on my hand on the dashboard and look up. So far she seems very pleased.

Her real cage is seatbelted in the middle of rhe back seat if she gets tired.

CC... I want to be there, on the road with you two. I know you know that the Rickeybird rode with me from NM to OH. A lot of it was awful, but it was pure glee to watch his antics. EB is Queen of the Road!

Puck... I think you're right: Rbird isn't possessed... he's just BAD TO THE BONE!

I love the colored/bendy/rope/perch thingie!! I have one but neither Amy or BB use it. You just gave me an awesome idea..coz Amy so loves to go for rides,I'll try that with her, instead of her sitting on my shoulder or on the passanger head rest. THANKS FOR THE IDEA!

BTW...where/how do you have it secured??

For the Amazon, not really. This is his third Blessing and he's still opening-up. At least he held back until 'just after' the Priest arrived in front of us. Last year, he opened up as the blessing of the family before us began.

We have come to accept the reality of having 'that' kid. It seems to be more the blessing of providing the others, a known reality that theirs' was not the worst behaved. So, we see it as our providing comfort to others. Yaaa I know, thin but, its the best I can come up with. Over the Years, some of our past 'kids' have behaved far worst. Wow, just had a flood of memories -- and, yes we will keep going, the memories are worth it!

Like I said, Confession the following week is always interesting. It starts the same way; Forgive me Father for I have - at which time the Priest says, Yes I know, but let us talk about your Parrot, shall we.....

Sorry CherylCali for grabbing your Thread. But the memories that just returned shout: Yes, Take You Sweet Baby - The memories ten years from now will be worth it!!!

Jim; Setting Amy on your Shoulder is OK. I would not recommend the passenger's head rest. That would require a thick pile towel pull-over that head rest that Amy can dig-deep-into if you need to Stop fast. With her on your shoulder, you should be able to feel Amy apply her nails as you begin to Stop. If she needs more, she can grab your ear and not hit the Windshield. Yup, our DYH Amazon has had to grab. The ear bleed a little.

Sorry CherylCali for grabbing your Thread again. Hope you enjoy it! :D

Peace & Quiet (Yellow-Sided Green Cheek Conures, brother and sister). They are my babies whom I love very much and they are such a blessing.

Nooo problem at all with thread grabbing. Love and peace abound here.
I have one end wrapped around the visor arm and the other end is wrapped around a built in handle on the side of the windshield frame. I think I may have been able to use the rear view mirror and visor though. But I'm not above bolting something in either if necessary. My first idea was a shower perch on the window. But this was more cost friendly. This picture shows a little better how I have it wrapped.

I will probably get a pak- o -bird one day. But in the meantime this is the smallest 'small animal carrier' at pet smart . It cost $20! Even cat carriers are 50-70 bucks! I used a heated ice pick to melt small holes to attach her favorite toy, food cups, and a small perch. Even though its small it's plenty big for her. She's not a chewer though. With a chewing bird they could destroy the plastic viewing mesh in 10 seconds.
