Peace & Quiet (Yellow-Sided Green Cheek Conures, brother and sister). They are my babies whom I love very much and they are such a blessing.
Day 41 of Training: First time bird walking rather than bird watching and they had a good time taking their first tour outside. Folks were perplexed when walking their dogs and seeing two birds chilling and looking at them saying "Do you have a problem."

I was Encouraged neighborhood folks I never met before were astounded how attached they were to me since they stayed on my shoulder the entire time I was on the side walk - and they loved their colors. Glad I got to speak about my faith in Christ and why God made nature to respect you if you respect it. Turns out taking birds outside is healthy for them and their feathera. But I didn't want to be out too long as I was out looking at all times for hawks...but it was an awesome walk. Now if I had a peacock I could go walking with in the future.......but that's for the future

Life is interesting with the things you learn. In example, Day #17 of Training revealed interesting things I did not know before but now make sense after I picked up their birth certificates. I was told (when I went back to Pet Supermarket to get their birth certificates and aleady had them for awhile) to be certain I knew the gender. And I was told that the males (as with many birds) are the more colorful ones and the girls have the darker complexion. ...meaning the boy was Peace (with the marron highlights over his eyes) and the girl was Qui Qui.

Thus, I no longer felt surprised Qui Qui seemed a bit annoyed/unresponsive whenever I'd say "Good boy!!!" or "Come boy!" - and no surprise Peace was all over me like our older Sun Conure parrot Mango since the boys are more excited, adventurous and eccentric by nature..even though I said "Good girl!!!" a lot and he was responsive.. Glad to have caught it early and thankful my pets put up with it, unless they want to do self identification

I am still trying to be certain on the gender. I got the birth certificate saying they were a male/female and the folks at Pet Supermarket said they were raised together since birth (which explains why they're so close).

Could someone help me out with this one? It's a struggle enough being concerned for potential breeding (as they were only 4-5 months old when I got them in August) - and I am very fearful of egg breaching since I know that is truly a killer. It is on the horizon for me since I don't want them to breed, but the money really is tight for a check-up from the vet anytime soon when they are in a family of 3 dogs. But if there's any practical ways of understanding, I'd appreciate that :)

Good write, great photos!
With these little babes, there is no way to determine gender on appearance or attitude.
DNA testing! 20 bucks plus a postage stamp! Free collection kit.

Avian Services Center: DNA sexing and disease testing for all species of birds.

An outside walk would terrify me! A simple spook and you are chasing the second most precious things in your life! Even clipped, with a breeze, they are gone! Predators, besides Hawks, are everywhere!

It's good that they behaved so well! I can't wait to take mine outside, although when I do it will be with a harness because we live in town with a lot of traffic and stuff that could spook her. But that day is far into the future 😉

Yep, conures are monomorphic, no visible differences between the sexes. If learning the sex is important to you (and it probably should so you know if the potential for egg binding is in your future) DNA testing so your only option.

It looks like the three of you enjoyed your day!
I would strongly recommend harness training them, I know how devastated you would be if one or both got startled and flew away.

I personally have one sun conure named Syren.
My boyfriend who I live with has 2 quakers named Sully and Marty.
I also have a chihuaha named Stewart.
Awesome! I can't wait to take my birdie on a lovely outside walk... and and the pictures are great!
