I got Kermit early July and what a cutie that bird is :D

* now knows step up, 'kisses' (and will even make the kissy noises back at you, especially if you offer a cheek), and wave. Was once kinda potty trained, then we got lazy and accepted the bird poop.

* has an impromptu playstand! My mom had an old straw picnic basket she never had a use for and that bird loves it :) ! I will attatch a picture later.

* has just been DNA sexed and....

*drumroll*

Is a GIRL.

I have no idea how long it will be until my brain can rewire 'he' to 'she. As for her name, I decided the spelling will be the same but we will be going with the French pronunciation v_____v So 'Kermie' to pronounce (and we called her that half the time anyways) with still the same spelling for my poor brain.

I had a sneaking feeling this young lady would do this to me >:I Now I will have to take additional precautions when she comes of egg-laying age to prevent chronic egg-laying and egg-binding.:green2:

I haven't had the chance to get any pictures yet of her picnic basket, but Kermit's had a lot of (positive) changes !

I finally talked my folks into letting her day-cage stay downstairs in the living-room area so she could really be a part of her home. We've started playing with her for about 15 minutes at a time (instead of approx 1 hour at a time) and I've noticed a huge improvement in her behavior. She's no longer as bitey and if she is, she goes back into the cage for 10 minutes. I can tell she's happy because she's been making the cutest happy chattery sounds (including a squeaky toy esche sounding one and whistles) so I know she loves it :) !

Yesterday was Halloween and apparently she was a big hit with the trick or treaters. My mom was answering the door with Kermit on her shirt and all the little kiddos were awed ;) Apparently a twelve year old even "owned" an Indian Ring Neck (as much as a 12 year old can I suppose) and was so excited to see another parrot.

The only downer was the other day Kermit bit our dog on the nose D: Everyone was fine, and I think she was just curious. The dog has learned to ignore the bird. The bird has not learned to ignore the bird .^.; She's been eyeing the dog for a while. It wasn't a mean bite so I know the dog was fine (if not a little surprised), but I was worried about the bird biting an area where there would obviously be a lot of gram-negative bacteria... I'm guessing a tiny tiny bit won't hurt her so long as she has a good immune system, but I really want to discourage her from making a habit of it. Hopefully now that she's living downstairs, she'll get used to seeing the dog from her cage and won't be so earnest to check out what this 'dog' creature is.

Can't wait to see photos!!!!!
The Rbird claimed a huge old basket for himself as well.
In Spanish we'd probably call your bird "Kermita" or "Kermitita".

You know, my Spanish-speaking friend said the same thing when I revealed Kermit's surprise gender haha. But I am not taking Spanish and figured I best embrace the language I'm trying to learn.

Kermit's been enjoying it for a few weeks so it has a lot more holes in it than when she first got it. For such a tiny beak, she makes swift work of it.

It's just flat out hard to beat a cute little GCC who's firing on all cuteness cylinders.

Those little monsters are really something else! I am so glad she is now becoming part of the family!
The dog, in no way encourage a friendship! I directly lost my first GCC, Tango, and had to bury two others for friends! Same dog!

It happen much faster than you can react! And just the shock of the attack will kill her, with no physical injury!!

Salty has our dog Tinker totally cowed, and she will move far far away when Salty is off his boingy. Saltster will run over and chew the dogs furry toy in lieu of Tinker, if he can't have dog for dinner.

@Flboy ; Friendship is not my aim. The dog ignores the bird and often walks away from us when we're out, which is good. I just can't seem to get the message across to the bird the same way I did with the dog :/ If given the chance she would walk up to the dog to figure out what /that's/ all about.

@wrench ; Oh my, how fierce x) Its amazing what such a cocky attitude gets these guys, especially when dogs are so much bigger than them. I thought tiny dogs were bad but these guys don't see size AT ALL.

My mom had an indoor cat that never paid the fids no never mind. Smokey however, detested PITA. ( Im sure you can figure out what PITA stood for )
One day Pita was in the living room, minding his own business, walking behind and around Smokes house, all the while Smokey being on her roof following the cat. Well Pita's tail was high in the air and he got too close to Smokeys house. Smokes reached over the side, got a beaky full of tail fur and gave a good yoink on it  As the poor cat took off like a bullet,Smokes yelled out to him " Damn cat!! GO!!!" it was funny!
Poor Pita never got that close again to Smokeys house lol.
