Hmmm, didn't realize that Golden Conures where X-pat Brits. :D

Sorry, just a bit of morning humor!

Love humor :) don't give them much meat, or often, or fish. they sure like it, especially if there's some yummy sauce or glaze on it

Beautiful Goldens! They are on my short list, if I ever consider getting a second parrot. What are they like , temperment wise?

Hi Salty! We're very impressed that you will eat spinach!

Al, the temperament question is tricky to answer, as I'm not sure how to compare with other species. I’ll do my best though. My male is super sweet and skiddish. He obeys and is gentle and just wants to be loved. My girl was the same until she reached sexually maturity and now she is fierce and demanding and will bite hard. Makes me sad that I cannot cuddle with her, but I don’t want any more scars. We all love each other and are family and trust. I've had to learn to love my girl for who she is and try to listen to her wants, but be firm when the answer has to be “no” or “not now”. In all fairness, I think it is probable that Marco is bonded to me and Katie is jealous. I’m hoping that as a few more years pass Marco will bond more with Katie, but that’s something you just can’t force.

I can also say that they are very easy to manage, meaning that they are not escape artists and are predictable. If I leave a door open they will scamper out but they do not pick locks and when they are out they stay on top their cage. I can leave the house with their door open and know they and my house are safe because they will not venture from the cage. If something startles them and they fly off, they can climb back on.

Hope this info is helpful. Goldens are wonderful and I’m so happy we’re family - and just like family we have different personalities, lol.

Beautiful! I met a bunch of goldens a few weeks ago and all of them were so nice! There was one adult, pretty sure it was a male if I remember correctly, and he layed on his back in my hands while getting scritches and loved it! He was very well socialized.. I havent come across too many birds that let a stranger hold them on their backs.. and the owner wasnt even there! From what Ive seen of them their personalities remind me of conure with a little macaw in it.

A few years ago, we lived next to a couple that had been moved by their British Corporation many times around the World. While sitting in our backyard enjoying a summer's afternoon they would speak of the many Countries they have lived in and raised their kids. He called himself an X-Pat Brit. Although he stated that he hated weakass American Beer, he never refused one! As he would drink more, he would tell of the Great Mutton Dinners he so enjoyed in Britain and would always have a true Mutton Dinner when they would visit the Island of Mann for the Bike Races every early Summer.

So: Golden Concures + Mutton + my X-Pat Brit friend = a (at least in my mind) little morning humor.

I think Goldens are the most beautiful birds in the world.

Thanks for explaining. We do not officially have Mutton over here it is all labelled 'Lamb' :) So that would be a Roast Lamb Dinner? Can't beat it!
