Green Cheek Conure Help!

Hello all! I have had my Green Cheek for about three years now. I've had him since he was able to eat on his own. We were good buddies for the first two years! He would cuddle with me, sit on my shoulder, fly to me, etc. Well, about a year ago, he changed. Somehow he is scared of me. He has not adapted to any of my other family members. He will let me scratch his head through the cage (most of the time) and will take snacks out of my hand as long as it is through the cage. If I open the cage door, he won't come out if I am around. However, when I leave the room he will squeal for me at times. I have spent a lot of time sitting by his cage and talking to him. Is there anything else you guys can think of that I can do?

Thanks for the help!

Jason

I'm glad you're reaching out.
You found a great place.
My first thoughts as far as stuff to be investigated...
*sexual maturity dynamics
*is the bird being traumatized somehow in your absence?
*is the bird ill... do you have an avian vet?
*is his diet/habitat optimal?

Yeah I would take the bird to an Avian Vet first.

When My Sprinkles was getting over his illness he acted weird with my husband who he use to love. Now that Sprinkles is all better he is back to normal and happy to be with my husband again.
