Hey everyone,
I'm new to the forms so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place.
Several years ago I worked at an exotic pet store and became really close to a bird that was brought into the store in pretty bad shape. I was asked to care for it until it's health was back up and could be sold to a responsible owner. It was the coolest little bird ever and needless to say the bird and I bonded after spending close to 4 hours a day together for several months and due to me getting ready to leave for college I wasn't in a good position to purchase the bird for myself, or I would have.

Now that I've graduated and have a house I've been on a search in attempt to find the same kind of bird. It was over 4 years ago and unfortunately I don't have any pictures but from what I can remember it was smaller, around 10"-12" or so, green body color, and had two yellow/orangeish circles on each cheek. I remember naming the bird cobbler because it had "peach" in it's common name. After doing some research the Peach Fronted Conure fit that description almost perfectly, except for the two yellow/orangeish circles on each cheek. My question is, was I imagining things with the two colored cheeks and the bird I took care of is in deed a Peach Fronted Conure, or is there a bird that better fits my description?

I know this my be a shot in the dark with so little information but I figured it was worth a try. Thanks for any advice or information.

Without a pic I'm guessing when you say "circles on each cheek" you mean eye rings? The colored feathers around the eyes? I did notice that myself and wondered about it at one time, why some Peach Fronted Conures have the yellow/orange feather circles around the eyes, and some don't. I've seen pics of older ones without it, so it can't be only juveniles who don't have the circles. Maybe subspecies, diet, lack of natural lighting... ?? I don't have time to google extensively, but a simple search did not yield an explanation. I think Peach Fronted are gorgeous. Espeically the ones with the feathered eye circles :).

I'm not confusing it with the Half Moon Conure, which looks similar at a glance, but has a horn color beak and yellow colored skin around the eyes.

Is there any chance you are thinking of one of the following?

Blue throated conure

A white eared conure

Other options might be a peach faced lovebird

Or a white bellied caique

I honestly wouldn't bet too much on finding the "common name" since a lot of pet stores make up crazy names for parrots when they don't know what they have.

These are all the species I can personally think of that come close to matching your description, but I'm wondering if maybe the bird you saw was a juvenile that that has yellow spots but not as an adult (none come to mind), or if you are mixing and matching markings with a cockatiel ;)

Thanks everyone for all of the help! after reading through everything and looking at all of the pictures I think that I was mistaking the colored eye rings around the Peach Fronted Conure I was looking at more pictures and when I saw a few that had these rings it helped me remember.

Some of the pictures that were shared were birds I've never seen before and are beautiful. I'll have to do some more research to make sure that the Peach Fronted Conure is going to be a good fit but if not I now have a few other one I can look into.

Thanks again everyone all of the information and comments were really helpful!
