Hey guys

Just joined today. Our family has just adopted (purchased) a 6 week old Yellow sided green cheek. He should be finished weaning in the coming weeks and we will get to bring home. Pending the DNA tests to pick a name. Looking forward to the adventure, as well as getting to know the folks on the forum

Thanks for the warm welcome. Home for me is Montreal, Canada. I guess we'll see if Conures are bilingual!

Here is a first picture of the little one.

Myself and the family have each been visiting him at the pet store each day. So far He (she) seems to have a very nice personality. Inquisitive, alert and not at all aggressive. I was previously the owner of a cockatiel I cared dearly for, and she passed about a year ago. It took a while but we are ready for the next stage of the journey. Although I am a new member I have been reading on the forum for a while. I very much appreciate the warm welcome and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions from here on in. My main concern is to raise a healthy and happy little feathered friend.

So.. our new family member came yesterday. It was suggested by the store that we keep him (her) in their cage for the first 48 hours - so they understand this is their home. So far the little one seems happy - and has certainly been taking advantage of the pellets in the cage. It slept last night holding on to the cage bars, - so hopefully that will change as the little one becomes more acclimatized to the new environment.

And.... the DNA results are in - and Its a girl. She seems to be settling in nicely - and Chloe seems to be the front runner for a name. I must say, after the passing of our cockatiel a year ago, its nice to see a little face looking back as you eat your breakfast.
