I have always thought of food as just food. Tillie doesn't really use shredding toys. I have them in her cage but I've never seen her even look at them. There's no evidence that she's chewed on any either. Sometimes she'll shred a popcicle stick if I give her half of one. I break them in half so they're not too long for her. Today, I was cutting up a zucchini and she ran down my arm to the zucchini. She always wants any food that I have. I thought I let her just bite off what she wants to eat. She shredded it. It wasn't about her eating it. She just wanted to shred. They're pretty cheap. The only bummer is that I can't leave in her cage very long so I'll have to be strategic when I give it to her. I guess I could just hold it while she has her fun...

On another note, her Aviator harness should be in the mail today. I can't wait to try it out. She's afraid of NOTHING so I'm hoping it'll be easy to get it on her. It'll be nice to be able to take her out and about with me. Her hormonal tantrums seemed to have quietened down quite a bit. She's decided that she likes me again.

Bumble loves to shred her food and fling it around. Carrots are a favorite for this. Sometimes when she's out on the table, she'll shred/fling and then pick up the little bits and eat them.

Good luck with the harness [emoji4][emoji4]

I'd recommend buying organic sweet potatoes for her to shred. You can get a decent sized bag for cheap, and you just have to wash the sweet potato, cut it into thick slices, and put them all over her cage. Sweet potatoes store well, and you don't have to worry about food poisoning like you do with whimsy zucchini. I used to get sweet potatoes all the time for my guys to shred, but it turns out they're allergic. Sometimes. Other times, they aren't allergic to sweet potato...but then a month later they're suddenly allergic to sweet potato again. I don't understand!

Exciting! My aviator came yesterday let me know how you like yours

We tried it out. It took about 3 tries before we could get it on her. She was very distracted by it. She didn't like the bulky part in the front. Her head is so small but I need the gap to get it over. Once on the head hole is big. Once something caught her attention she forgot about it but it didn't take long for her to focus on it and try to nibble it. I feel like the more often we try it out. She'll get used to it. One thing I didn't think about was the little yellow weeds that she was shredding. I need to figure out what they are before we do it again.

For a first outing, I'd say it was successful.
