What size holiday cage?

Rather than leave Syd at home alone I need a cage that he can live in fairly comfortably for a few days in someone else's house. His permanent home is huge so that's a non starter, but something small enough to take away with me would be great. I'm thinking of even a budgie cage, but would that be uncomfortable for him?

I'm in the UK - so any suggestions?

Personally, I think a budgie cage would be too small, even for just a few days.

I use a budgie cage for Skittles just for travel to the vets. Only so he can flap all around, but can still move around. But even that, its just for a few hours.

Maybe something along the lines of a sleep cage? Something where its not too big to carry, but big enough for Syd to move around, stretch his wings etc.

as long as they can move a bit and can outstretch their wings it's fine. Put simply as big a cage as you can carry!

We travel with our Amazon near every weekend and longer trips once or twice a quarter. From a cage size, most of it depends on how often the Parrot can be out of the cage, which tries to how well behaved (trained) the Parrot.

We Travel with a three piece (plastic with metal door) Travel Carrier, and for an Amazon it is sometimes called a Cat Carrier. We also have a travel perch that is easy to carry and packs well in cars, trucks and SUVs.

So, much comes to your method of travel, the comfort level you and your Parrot have with being out of the cage and what additional room you have for support 'stuff!'

Thanks all. With your comments in mind I went to the bird shop and looked at all the cages. I found one which I thought was big enough for Syd without killing me and brought it home.
I cleaned it thoroughly and left it near his big cage while he looked at it in his little cocked head way. Anyway after an hour or so I put a toy some water and his fav seeds in and popped him in.
He looked happy enough so as it's a warm day we went outside and after a few minutes I could tell he was really happy. He sipped the water, ate the seed, shouted at the pigeons flying overhead, and after about an hour we came back again.
He then spent the next hour flying from one cage to the other and then to his play station.
With fruit for teatime he is now quite shattered and happily snoozing and preening. I think this smaller cage will increase our scope no end for giving him a different view of the world, and in Winter I will probably use it as a sleep cage so I can take him to a smaller room which is easier to heat all night.
