Hi all! I have a GCC who was sold as a yellow-sided mutation. However, he has red spots on his shoulders and after about a year, his yellow is turning green after his first molt! I'd love to know what hybrid you all think he might be! Pearly? Fiery-shouldered? Included a picture for reference :)

Red shoulders isn't necessarily a hybrid trait, although granted, it's hard to say if there are any pure green cheeks within captivity anyway... at least in North America... and even if they are "pure", there's information that states they may have naturally hybridized with maroon bellied conures.

I don't see anything that says this bird is in fact a hybrid and would need to see more photos. Even then, I can't say I'd be able to identify whether or not the bird is "pure" or hybrid. Just looks like a slightly high red opaline green cheek conure.

(if you ever come back to read this)

Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
no hybriding here, just a bit unique colouring. Some have some very unique colours

his reds are a lot darker red than mine, but I'd say it's a green cheek conure, but there is such a thing as a crimson belly conure that also has the red on the shoulders of the wings like that (not a maroon belly) . check out this link Species we breed - Something Cheeky 14 images down the page you will see his doppelganger.
