This is just one of the reasons I cannot get a GCC...

OMG this bird is so cute!!! I would LOVE to have a GCC but now is not the right time as I have to focus on work (I work from home and if I had a GCC I would spend all day admiring it and playing with it and not doing any work at all).

Almost looks like this little bird is dying? LOL... but just so relaxed n' sleepy and sooo cute! :D That GCC looks a LOT more calm than my crazy tiel named Coconut ever is!

Cute video! If I could, I'd have my birds on my all the time but it's not always possible. You are the only one to be able to make the decision about getting a gcc but you probably could get a lot more accomplished than you think. I'm glad you're thinking it over though. Better to do that than get one without thinking it through and ending up not having the time for either your work or the bird.

Yes, it's hard to get anything done around a GCC. Now that I'm off her poopoo list, my Tillie won't get off me. If she wants cuddles, she will keep moving under my hand until I completely stop what I'm doing and scratch her. If I have ANY food, she's all over me. She's worse than a dog. A dog will sit there and whine. She just goes for the food.

Lol you more than likely wouldn't be able to get work done, because a GCC wouldn't let you. And not because you'd want to play with it, but more because they want everything you have, and I mean EVERYTHING! I have 2, and one of them can be quite independent....until I am trying to get something done haha. So if I want to spend time with her, but she doesn't really feel like it, all I have to do is start doing something and she'll come down and claim it [emoji13]

haha they are amazing little creatures

they normally do get "lifeless" during a good scritch session. They gotta relax after all their craziness!

LOL....oh yes... I know the feeling trust me. My new tiel I got about ayear ago (Coconut) is EXTREMELY high maintenance... it's like he has fire ants in his pants 24/7 and he never leaves me alone! :) He's got so much energy it's insane how different he is from my other tiel (Rascal). Coconut gave me a whole new appreciation for how laid back and mellow Rascal is that's for sure. The upside to this is that Coconut is in many ways more fun to play with because he's so much more interactive and a bit crazy :)

Another reason the time is't right is because I pan to move back to Budapest, Hungary (I live in Florida right now)... tiels are NOT on CITES but conures are unfortunately. This would make it an even bigger hassle to get my bird overseas. :( I would be beyond heartbroken if I got a GCC and fell in love with it and then was unable to bring him to to Europe with me. My tiels won't be a problem taking them to Hungary... but I heard conures are more problematic because they are on CITES... I haven't manged to fully look into the details of this yet though...

Right now I can't get a GCC sadly :(

I must focus on fixing my financial troubles and getting my new business started. One day I will get my GCC.... this gives me something to look forward to :D

LOL she doesn't mess around. Too funny, I know my tiels go CRAZY when they know I'm about to give them a baked potato, wild rice or sweet potato or peas at dinner time... they literally act like dogs indeed. They can barely contain themselves :14: :)

They are fun crazy birds. I have a black capped and you can not get much down with them around. They want all the attention. Now that my little guy is over a year old he as become more independent.

Conures almost have too much personality. Some day you should get a green cheek when the time is right.

Your black capped conure is gorgeous! :D

I know when the time nears and I'm finally ready to get my little conure I'll need to do more research on whether a GCC or black capped will be the one....

I've tried looking at this and the "pearly" types.

They're naturally incredibly similar but according to one thing I've seen both Black caps and Pearlies are a little quieter, bite a little less but they bite a little bit harder along with having slightly more laid back personalities. But of course if you put a noisy black cap next to a quiet green cheek that throws that observation out the window!

I think it'll come down to whichever of the species chosses you!
