So, I have Brad, who I am considering changing his name to Bread. The reason will become apparent shortly. Although I breed parrotlets, an acquaintance of mine asked if I wanted to take on a pair of green cheek breeders. She breeds green cheeks, but got a few pairs of a new mutation in and needed the room, so I said sure, why not. I am also a sucker. I am sure most of you realize that by now.
I'm not sure if they are ever going to actually breed for me, or if I just now have three little green cheek terrors. They are actually tame birds, even though they are proven breeders, which is perfectly fine with me. I prefer my breeders to be tame, honestly. However, they have to be out first thing in the morning, or they will wake up the neighborhood. The male is a pineapple named Peanut Butter, and the female is normal named Jelly. Thus the idea of changing Brad to Bread.
Brad actually gets along with them which is surprising, considering Brad doesn't get along with anyone. Well, I should say Brad gets along with Peanut Butter. In fact, Brad loves Peanut Butter. Jelly loves Peanut Butter. Peanut Butter loves everyone. Brad and Jelly keep a civil distance between each other when they are out.
I will say the semi-painful preening neck nibbles seem to be an overall green cheek thing. I thought it was just Brad, but both Peanut Butter and Jelly do it too. Green cheeks are such naughty little birds. Out of all the birds I've ever had or fostered, I think they are the overall naughtiest. They aren't bad, by any means, they are just naughty. I sort of like it though.
