Hello, I haven't been on here in a while, but I would love some suggestions!

I have 2 Green cheeks, argyle and fiji. They are currently fully feathered and can/do fly around the house when allowed out when we are home. Both birds were clipped when I got them as youngsters, but have been flying for more than a year now (argyle is 4, and fiji 2).

My boyfriend and I are getting ready to close on our first house, and I am unsure what to do when we move in a couple weeks. Should I clip the birds so they can't fly initially until they get new feathers and get a chance to settle in, or is it better to keep them as is? House we are moving to is twice as big, with open floorplan and loft, so the ceiling will be 3x as high as it is now. Argyle is much tamer than fiji, he seeks people and will step up on command. Fiji likes things on her terms. She will voluntarily land on chair behind you or on your head/shoulder, but does not like to step up, but currently knows phrase " get in your house" and will go from on top to in it with that phrase... I have dogs and cats, and have never had any problems with any of them in the birds, but have left the birds flighted so they could get away if needed, but I am also concerned about them loose in a new house with a height I can't reach...any advice is helpful! Thanks

I apologize, I wasn't sure if some people only look at the species specific forums and not the Q&A forums.

If you like them free flighted...then they should be able to adjust just fine. I prefer to clip my birds wings because we don't just stay indoors we go shopping and tend the yard together etc. Just make sure the new place is bird proof.
