Cage cover

Was wondering if I should cover my GCC cage at night. I cover my budgies cage but wasnt sure about covering his. I have tried both and he sleeps fine both ways. When I cover him he still wakes me up at the crack of dawn and when i dont he still sleeps fine. His cage has a play gym at the top so covering it makes it hard. I just wanted to know what others thoughts were.

If your sleep area is truly quiet and dark, then you are fine going uncovered. You could always consider using a separate sleep cage, many folks do that. Our Bongo demands it!

TBh if you cover the cage and the room he is in is like a motorway service station then it will make little or no difference.

Parrots need 10/12 hours of rest/sleep and this needs to be dark and quiet.

I cover mine and he likes it, asks for it and it also offers some warmth in the cooler months.

I used to not cover Laylas cage but when Jazzi came home she had a really hard time settling in her cage at night. They are in my master bedroom and I do stay up fairly late. So I bought two cozzzy covers for their cages and they are like magic. Lol. They sleep soundly from the minute they are covered until they are uncovered. I feel great knowing they are getting 11-12 hours of sound sleep now.

I second the Cozzzy Covers. I used to have cage covers that were not real dark, and my two Conures wouldn't sleep well. With the black Cozzzy Covers they calm down quicker and sleep much better.
