Is Something Stuck?: Conure is Vigorously Bobbing Head Up In Down

Hello,

My conure has been doing a weird fast, paced head bob. She'll stick her head up and vigorously jolt it up and down, almost like she's trying to dislodge something stuck in her crop. She'll also do the same motion on the corner of perches sometimes. This looks like she's trying to scratch. I'm not sure what to make of it. Other than that, she seems fine. Droppings look normal, behavior is somewhat the same. I believe she's molting due to the amount of feathers I'm finding but I want to make sure she doesn't have a piece of wood stuck in her throat as she just destroyed her corner shelf I put in for her. Is this a vet-worthy visit or is it normal?

My advice - if you ever think you have reason (and this is not one of them) to suspect something is not right, do the trip to your vet. At the most your out the vet visit but you get peace of mind, if nothing is wrong.

Pickles, my GCC, does this often. The most amusing times is when she "steals" something from us (like a toothpick). She'll run to our mouth, pluck it out, and then bob her head so fast you honestly can't see the individual movements. I once filmed it and put it on slow motion and couldn't stop laughing.

Besides offering this behavior at this time, all 3 of my conures will bob for different reasons. I have, on multiple occasions, been the recipient of loving regurgitations (big yucky). They will also do it when seeking attention, when pissed at each other, when begging for a certain food, when complimenting my cooking, and a myriad of others.

My Suns are trying to start up a band. I have started a new thing by bobbing my head to a beat (my own beat) and clucking on the down swing. They both happily copy me and we almost have a little birdie harmony going on. Such characters!

Thank you for everyones fast response! Yes, it's beak closed gyrating lol She's very attached to me, so this is probably the case. To be on the safe side I'll probably just casually mention it to the vet at her next nail trimming and see what he says :03:

$issy will regurgitate on my feet..while im standing in the kitchen or on my arm when watch tv..totally normal. .sign of love lol

Nibbler does this for attention, he doesn't love me enough to regurge (thank god)

If it's a vibration kind of motion with the bobbing it is a left over behavior from babies that means "feed me" but in adulthood it's something they do to people they're closest too and or if they are happy. Ollie does this to my fingers sometimes and it's cute! This is different than regurgitation which is a sexual advance that should be discouraged.
