I had an eye infection or something in my eye, (i dunno which, but it didn't spread and I know I had a lot of dust and crap in my eyes friday night).... over the weekend-ish so I spent a lot of time off work because my eye was light sensitive, and I was tearing etc.

So I had a lot more time with Clark and it broke up my two days on two days off schedule.

Yesterday he was in his cage when I was napping during the day and he went ballistic on his toys. He wasn't calling out to me, he never calls out when I sleep he's a good boy, but he wasn't exactly trying to be quiet violently attacking his toys with bells etc. So I'm wondering if

1) he sensed I was going back to work and we wouldn't be 24/7 anymore.

2) he didn't even want to be in his cage anymore because he was so used to being with me

3) Aggressive hormones, and like Tyler Durden (fight club) he just wanted to destroy something beautiful. (he's 2 1/2 yo now)

4) Hes mad doesn't get to leave the house anymore because it's cold and winter now in Minnesota.

5) He was just play-fighting for FUN!

OR Some combination of the above. He's still super sweet and cuddly and everything on me, around me, no biting or anything, no change in behavior, diet, weight, ...for all I know he does this a lot and I'm just at work and don't see it or asleep and don't notice it. I mean I've had so much sleep over the last couple days I was just dozing really, which is the only reason I saw it.

I realize I'm asking for speculation, but this is the first time I've seen him act like this in his cage in like 2 years. Other than setting up a camera I have no way to narrow it down but to ask......"THE CONURE EXPERTS!"

Thanks!

:gcc:

I'm gonna go with number 3 and 5 on this one

Of course it could be that's what he normally does on that day if it was a day you were usually at work and merely you interrupted his schedule!

Thanks Lordtriggs I tend to agree.... BUT if anyone else has an opinion I'd like to hear that as well. I've seen him attack his ball before,.... but like I said this was completely new to me seeing him go ballistic inside his cage.... However I have seen the results of him pulling toys apart that I ended up repairing, so it may be an all the time thing he just doesn't do in front of me. Any and all opinions open it is just speculation for now.

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Could also just be his "play time".. Beebs is ALWAYS a mild mannered fella, but there have been times (i.e. me NAPPING on the couch) That he too goes off the wall with his toy's,banging and clanging, growling (he thinks) is fool head off.
It's actually quite funny to watch. I lay there with one eye partially open watching as he goes coo-coo. If he should see me look up he instantly stops and says "BB good boy?" and stops.

All this could be solved with a nanny cam! Wouldn’t that be a great topic...things your parrots do when you aren’t around...

I am beyond tempted to get a nanny cam for any future parrots. Seeing their antics during the day sounds hilarious

I would NEVER have gotten any work done if I had a nanny-cam there!

Male blue budgie!
Do the camera! It would be fun to see what he does with his day. Or get an app for your phone or something to watch remotely. :)

so...I'm going to start looking at a nanny cam, just for the fun of it....requirements will be night vision, sound if possible, and media stick/USB transferring for upload, I am kind of curious what he does when I'm at work. Gimme a while to shop.

If I was reviewing the video and a bunch of robins and bluejays and wrens come in and they start disco dancing...I don't think I'd really be that surprised. Even when they do water dish stands....

I’m sorry about your eye. Number three made me laugh and I laughed again when Lord Triggs suggested that this is Clark’s regular Wednesday at 2 programming but you’re just at work and don’t see it ...
