Paco. A hybrid conure.
Hi everyone! I adopted Paco on September 28th (2017) and he is finally trusting me! This week he has discovered the ceiling fan merry go round ... when it’s off it still slightly turns as the air or heat kicks on... I live in Florida lol so in December I need to use both. Paco is flying around the house now. This morning he started to poop off the corner of his sleeping cage and I told him no that it would fall on the floor. Then I pointed to the table top stand that he usually poops on every morning for his first poop of the day and I told him go poop over there on your tree. And he did! Smart little creatures!! This week he started letting me pick him up. He is very interested in tunneling now. When I first got him he was terrified to be covered. I’m thinking about clipping him once more ... he recently flew on to the stove top and landed on a clean pot sitting there. The stove was off, nothing was cooking, but I’ve been calling everything dangerous in the house “HOT” and now that he landed on the “hot” ceiling fan he knows that I lied. I suspected when I got him that he was mostly caged for his life. Im starting to think there is some truth to that because the bird doesn’t know that the stove is dangerous. I was washing dishes with the bird nearby on the wheeling training stand. He flew to my shoulder.. then flew to a very small luck plant on the window at the sink... it couldn’t support him so he flew to the dining room window and landed on the blinds then came back to the kitchen to land on a pot on the stove. Like I said the stove was off and everything cold but that and the ceiling fan ... he needs to be clipped for his own safety while I work on teaching ... he just flew to the Christmas tree ... lol... now he’s behind me on a picture frame... he needs flight training ... and that’s a possibility!! Because this week he trust me enough to open his wing. No bite!

What great news!
Congratulations to both of you.
Fans can be a lot of fun... I scared myself by turning them ON a couple of times over the years. Nowadays, I usually DISABLE fans because I don't trust myself.
I'm so happy that the trust is growing.

Same here! They love to spend time on those fans and sometimes it gives little heart attacks to me when I accidentally turn them on lol.

I actually don't remember how Hydutt (GCC) learned that stove was dangerous because he never flies there. Maybe from how much I panicked when he tried to fly there? They are so smart. I cook when he is on my shoulder and at most he goes on top of refrigerator or to the sink hoping for a quick shower :D.

I am sure you guys will enjoy being together. Conures are so much fun <3
