Annoying behavior?

My Gcc is 3 years old. Total diva this one. Not touchy feely and just likes to lounge around looking over her world. Lately she's begun a habit that is driving me nuts! She's begun chewing on her bars and banging her seed guard at night. I've tried different toys to keep her busy but she ignores them. She's a bird that just loves to relax and look over her kingdom. No fuss. No play. She's my second in command and she knows she's top flock.

She eats Lafebers pellets with a seed mix and her fruit and veg every day. Gets plenty of attention 'her way'. And is perfectly healthy.

She's also started acting jealous when I'm paying attention to another bird. She could care less I'm there until I focus my attention on another. Then she's yelling, banging around, or throwing things. So I ignore her or get her out on her play top first before getting anyone else.

I just worry about her chewing the bars and chewing off the coating or toxicity issues.

Any ideas on what to try? I've ignored her, yelled at her, played music, more out time, strict bed times, a night light... Nothing has worked and she's driving me nuts.

She is molting and showing nesting behavior (she's alone and around no males) and this is usually only at bed time when I turn the lights out. She's always been cage aggressive so adding a box to her cage would just make it worse.

Open to suggestions!!

LOL, seems like if some GCC have somthing in their head, they do it "just because you don't want them to do it" !!!! hahaha

EXAMPLE : Pico ( male GCC, 34 month old )

Anything and everything on the table, kitchen counter, computer desk what is not "NAILED" down or is to heavy, gets thrown to the floor. If I miss something, I don't search anymore, I just look on the floor !

Also, Pico is, for some reason attracted to the bottom of the kitchen cabinets on the floor.... I needed to cover them up, yes even put heavy water bottles in front of the doors..... ( looks pretty crappy ), since if I don't do it, he opens the doors, crawls inside the cabinet and chews the wood of the doors. LOL

Yep, GCC behavior and I tried all tricks from time out to rewards but nothing helps. These two things are in his little head !!! hahaha

Yelling at parrots is at best pointless and at worst reinforcing the behaviour. But you know that. I'd ignore the bad , reward the good, take other birds into another room to give attention, and be patient. Conlan is how old?

She is 3 years old. She's currently molting and being hormonal so I'm sure that is not helping. She's just starting this banging around thing.

I’m quite sure her molting and hormonal issues are a big player in this. Keep consistent with sleep, light, and good food. Misting helps as said above and maybe try moving the toys around in the cage?

I’ve had a little stinker like that too but loved her soooooo.

Banging food bowls to me means "I finished all the good stuff give me more" Or it means
I am going to keep doing this until you let me out. I will get my way. "

Yes always cover at night.

Is there any behavior you could teach her to do, then cue her to do over the undesired behavior?

I try to get her to blow kisses, she only does this when it's bed time and I'm in bed, and ask her questions she usually says what a million times lol. But she'll just start up again.

She's like a child not wanting to go to sleep at bedtime.

And the little turd won't sleep 12 hours.... Straight anyway. She spaces spazz's if I cover her, so I try to keep her lights off around 8pm. I have to be up for work at 2:30am and that is when she gets fed. So no matter what time she finally goes to sleep, she'll still be up yelling for breakfast around no later than 5am.

My only other option there is to feed her when I get home at 1pm and keep her room Dark from about 8-9 PM till 1pm.

Shes a routine girl, so i wonder if the change in season has her clock running behind and she's thinking it's bedtime to early?
