Smile Updates on superma....updates on Clark I mean

Sorry I haven't been on been very busy last couple weeks. Having a big shutdown at work for upgrades so have a lot of planning and parts to buy etc.

So I figured out the aggression inside his cage towards his mirror, banging it around like a crazy person. After each attack he looks in the mirror and says hrmfp 3 times, ...hrmfp, hrmfp, hrmfp....while looking at the reflection. Then later I saw him with the mirror tucked in between his wing and his body kind of rubbing a bit.... I looked at him and he looked at me so I went back to my book so he could have alone time....he's...definitely a slave to the hormones right now.

For christmas I got him some new perches to add to the way he moves around the cage, but he only liked the wood branch one; not the nail and beak dulling one, he was moving around it like he was unsure of it so I removed it for now...I'll put it back in a few weeks. He also got a 20oz bottle of orange juice of his very own and some treats.

Oh, I got some chex mix and there was some cheerios in it, I tried to give him a cheerio but he wasn't interested, so I put it on my shoulder, I've seen him drop food but he literally picked up and threw the cheerio onto my lap...(spoiled insane bird).

He's working on "ok" I don't know why I waited so long for that phrase, he's really good with "come here", "come on", "I love you", "kissy", "what cha' doing?" etc. in context.

Things are cold as "Winterfell" here in Minnesota, I'm sure my utility bill will be pretty high this month from keeping my little guy warm and comfortable but, alas it's worth it.

Anyways I'll try to be on more, but it's just a busy time of year for work and social.

I think you should take the mirror out of Clark’s cage. It seems to be stimulating his hormones

Re: Updates on superma....updates on Clark I mean

I don't know if it's stimulating him or if it's just what he decided to fix on....what is the correct thing to do, say if I remove the mirror but he starts on something else? I figured just ignore it and don't let him hump me..... He isn't aggressive towards me. I did a search and read some stuff but mostly it was about a hormonal bird being aggressive or nippy to it's owner.

Re: Updates on superma....updates on Clark I mean

I caught Syd 'having a moment' yesterday evening. Somehow he had managed to get into an unsuitable position with one leg on his perch and the other on a hanging toy. He was clearly enjoying the sensation enough to repeat the process a number of times, so I went back to my laptop. I don't think I blushed...!

So I guess what I'm asking now....what is the right response when you see your bird getting it on with .....whatever.

I'm amused as well but I kinda sorta want to know the answer.....what do you do walking in on your bird having a moment with him or her self.

Re: Updates on superma....updates on Clark I mean

Weeeell my instinct after running a reasonable distance would be to peek around a corner and see just how much he's enjoying himself! Depending on the scale I would run further or politely wait with diverted eyes until normal service resumes.

I suspect you might be taking your life in your hands if you plan to intervene! Syd is food and cage possessive, I dread to think how possessive he might be of hormonal delights! Possibly enough to try to remove a part of me I value. I'm all for a quiet life. Aren't you the one who likes to tuck him in your shirt? RISKY!
