So, alot of you know I have a beautiful Patagonian Conure.

Well, went to the shop today where I got her and I often miss another Patagonian owner as they go in earlier, anyway so I go in today for food and Syds breeder shows me a new toy....its like acrylics dummies and rings held together by silver hoops....which can be undone and changed or add too etc

Anyway, home I come and she's not interested in it outside the cage so I put it in and close the cage door cos I gotta clean the floor, don't want her landing on it, whilst in there she learns how to open the silver hoops, she's gotten so good at this that she can do the four hoops within a minute or two.

Awesome! The longer you have her, the more you'll be surprised at just how smart she is. Now whether or not she'll use her intelligent for evil like a certain other Patagonian who shall remain nameless is a whole other question:54:

BTW- any idea what the name of the toy is? Our amazon loves puzzle toys.

Maybe I'm lucky that the Rb isn't very bright. He is not a really smart fellow. Apparently there is variation in the species!!!!!!

He is stymied by forage toys, can't figure out the fastest routes from point A to point B when cage perches are changed; NEVER learns that certain big toys when swung, knock him off his perch (I just take them away).
When he senses there is training... a challenge... something new... a new item... a problem to be solved... he gets MAD, turns around and will march/fly back into his cage.

But you're right, what smarts he does have, he uses for evil!

My GCC Petey learned how to undo those hoops too: he totally destroyed a toy within a couple of hours.

It's not a puzzle toy but I can send a pic of the hoops....hopefully before she destroys it again haha

My God, she is so beautiful.
I love every Patagonian I meet, but I ESPECIALLY love your Syd. Her wings are just perfect, and her colors are so vivid, especially the yellows. The Rb's are more olive.
Even at this age, you can tell she's so focused... she's THINKING.
Thanks for this!

@Staysee

Any chance to find out where to get this toy ? Would love to get one for my GCC Pico !

Maybe a source ? Maybe ask the person where you got it from ?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sweet! Sorry to say, but both those rings and the clasp pose a risk! She can run the open end through her beak and/or get a toe stuck!

I think the only issue would be is that I'm in the UK, so if your not then you may not find it as easy, but can ask syds breeder if that would help?

She only plays with it outside her cage, so I'm always watching and once it's undone she don't bother with it anymore haha
