Here are a few new pics of Skittles. I just took them today. He is pretty much done with his molt, just has a few 'pinnies' here and there that are still too sensitive to touch. I have more, but heres a little taste. lol. Sadly, he wasn't being very cooperative so I was unable to get a back picture of him. Hopefully, I'll be able too soon.

Skittles is a lot more red than many sun conures I’ve seen. Stunning colors!

He's more orange than red, though he does have some red on his head.

I actually got into an argument with a lady on FB who told me Skittles was a 'red factor' and I told her he isn't. lol. I even checked with his breeder and his vet. He just happens to have more orange than most suns. But there are suns that have a LOT more yellow than he does. Though Skittles actually has a LOT of yellow on his back.

He's beautiful! I understand that coloring because Ollie is more orange than a lot of Sun's too but not as orange as Skittles but almost. There is another Sun I know that looks really yellow like his whole head is yellow. So yeah.

Yeah, I've seen so many different shades of the yellow and orange in suns. What I love about Skittles coloring is its VERY vibrant. It's "shiny" and neon (you can see the 'neon' in the green as well on his wings in the picture).

I see Ollie is still a baby. Ha, wait til he hits puberty, oh are you gonna have fun. lol. When they reach puberty (around 2yrs, but anywheres from 1-3). You can expect a comparison to a toddlers "terrible twos". lol. Just like how molting is similar to babies teething.

He's a year and 6 months! hmmm was hoping he already hit puberty and it was just basically unnoticeable...

Duh, here I am thinking its still 2017. lol.

One thing that aggravates me about Skittles being free-flighted is that because he spends so much time out of the cage and around the apartment, he thinks of the apartment as his "cage", his 'territory' if you will. As a result, he has an opinion about EVERYTHING. If I happen to move something and he doesn't like where I moved it too, he WILL let me know it. I end up having to distract him so he'll forget about it. Its why I do most of my rearranging while he's in bed.

Thank you. I attribute it to a proper diet (he's fed Harrisons) and plenty of exercise. It makes me feel good to know I am doing right by him. Considering all the things I did wrong with previously fids when I was younger and far less educated.

Good question Gale. He DOES have red on his head, on the sides. Under his eyse, behind his ear coverts. He also has a patch of red above his nares. But the rest of the orange is just that. It varies from reddish orange, to deep orange to yellow-orange.

If you look at his quills they are white near the bottom (where the sheath is, which all birds are from what I know) then they turn yellowish-orange and then orange and have a reddish-orange tip all across the outside.

His tail feathers have an 'olive-green' hue that turns to navy blue and then a bright cobalt blue.

Its funny how his colors transition from top to bottom just like the rainbow colors (r-o-y-g-b)

This picture here is almost seven years old, BUT, it shows the red much better. (You can also notice his beak, its MUCH better conditioned now in the newer pics. This pic here below, is from three months after I got him)

using my dulux colour chart I believe the brighter parts of skitty's chest start as a Honey Mustard then moves into the Auburn falls 4 and finally move up to a volcanic splash 4

Being that the honey mustard is a yellow and the other 2 are Orange as defined by Dulux we can conclude that Skitty is mostly Orange!

According to Pantone, Skittles seems close to "fiesta". Check out the the complimentary colors it suggests it is paired with and look at sun conure wings! Spot on complementary colors too.

"A strong yellow-based red" I believe they mean... Orange haha! This could make for an interesting game! Parronts post a picture of their bird and others have to find the colours they are based off paint charts

"calm, soft nature". Um, sorry, but that is just too funny since it is COMPLETELY not a sun conure trait.
