Safe Bed?

My 12 week old Pineapple absolutely LOVED his hut tent. But due to all of the concerns surrounding these, I removed it.
I replaced it with a grass mat which he quickly claimed as his new bed.

Unfortunately, he enjoys chewing the bed and has pretty much destroyed it. Other than getting him another mat, are their any suggestions for a safe "bird bed"?

I was thinking about a tunnel from PVC that some have but would like to know if there are any other suggestions.

Yep a PVC tunnel would work :). You could use a fleece instead of the happy hut material to line it so that he does not get his claw's stuck on unravelled strands. You could try repairing the hut by attaching more sea grass mat or even cutting a pvc pipe in half, drilling holes on the sides and then using clips/chains to attach it to the sea grass mat. There's a myriad of different methods, can't wait to see what you come up with ;)

Heres a link to an old thread of mine that goes over a similar topic

There's some really awesome ideas from other members there :cool26:

You could also try something with coconut shells like this.

Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
there cardboard tubes designed as a safe hidey hole for them and rodent animals called 'Chubes' which are cheap and look pretty fun.

I remember there being a fleece or like material which doesn't have threads which you could use for lining any material but honestly for the life of me I cannot remember what it is

Please me member that no matter how safe the material, any hut-like structure is likely to ramp up hormones and leave your little one sexually frustrates and prone to biting, screaming, abs plucking.

Salty loves his grass matt. Loves to hang out on it, loves to play on it, loves to chew it to pieces. Amazon had 3 for $10, now Salty loves Amazon !
