I recently moved to my own apartment with my 3 month old green cheek conure. He is bonded with me and completely hand tamed. I've noticed that he's more anxious and cannot be left alone in a room without trying to come find me. In addition to that I have noticed every once and a while his droppings are massive. He has also started tucking his head into my hand while I'm holding him. I've posted pictures for show. He is my first conure and I want the absolute best for him.

Thank you!

Are his big poops happening in the morning, mostly? If so, that's normal.

The head-tuck is him cuddling you. You are getting some birdy love. If you haven't already started giving him gentle head scratches with your finger (stroking gently against the direction of the feathers on the back of his head and right under his cheeks), you might want to give it a shot. :)

The wanting to follow you is probably another sign he is attached to you and loves you (beyond the cuddling).

Thank you for the reply. I have given him lots of neck scratches and he as started even giving me kisses and almost like preening my hand when he does so. The large poops do happen in the morning. I'm glad to hear this is normal.

Syd does this when he is moulting and wants me to check out his pin feathers.

My 16 week old Pineapple does the SAME exact things. Burrows under my hand constantly and cuddling to the point that he will roll himself upside down, in my hand, to get belly scratches. This is comical to watch as in doing this, he takes one foot and gently rubs his face with it; almost as if he is contemplating.

The poop (in morning) seems to be normal also. When I let BUDDY out in the morning, he climbs to my shoulder, flies into the bathroom and drops a huge one...luckily in the sink...most times.

Parrots are prey animals, and if not accustomed to change, can become stressed with change. Babies, especially, may be more apt to becoming stressed by change, although it can depend on the bird. Change could signify danger for them.

Hopefully your conure settles in quickly to your new home!
