GCC won't eat pellets

Hi. I recently tried to change my GCC from a generic parrot food to an organic pellet diet. I changed him gradually and now he only has the pellets alongside his chop etc. He only really ate sunflower seeds before (picking them out of his food) hence changing his diet. He only has them as a treat now. I am concerned he's not eating the new food as it is measured out and none is going. I'm thinking about trying Harrison's due to positive reviews even with fussy parrots but that will be a pellet too. Any tips on getting him to eat them? I'm worried for his health with him not eating properly. Thank you in advance. :gcc:

Yes give the Harrison's a try. It seems to be working for my CAG. She was on Roudybush but she wasn't eating a proper amount. She was under weight.

I started feeding equal amount of Harrison's and Roudybush and she immediately took to the Harrison's. She is also eating more of the Roudybush. The best thing is according to the scale she is actually gaining a little.

Give the Harrison's a try.

Also try a little water or fruit juice on the pellets. I actually used diluted honey for about a week. Each day I diluted it more. I now just mist the pellets with water.

That was to get her to eating a decent amount of the Roudybush. She took to the Harrison's with no problem.

My usual two cents...

Harrison's Bird Foods
I feed Harrison's, supplemented by fresh healthy treats. My first, and later, my current avian vet recommended it. My bird loves the pellets now, but to get him converted, my avian vet suggested putting pellets out all day, and putting seeds (his old diet) out for two 15-minute periods a day. That would sustain him but leave him hungry enough to try new stuff. I presume the same technique could be used to get him to eat other healthy stuff, like fruits and vegetables! My guy was eating pellets in a couple of days, and now I can feed a good variety of other stuff, knowing he has the pellets as a basic. Pellets are out all day... fresh treats a few times a day. I also like Harrison's via mail because I never have to worry about out-of-date products. :)
Another couple of ideas...
My ol' man is an athlete and health nut. He actually EATS all the good stuff, so it's always around. I find that tossing various stuff into the food bowls at random is good... the variations and differences seem to stimulate curiosity and attention.
The other idea... if you can stand it (lol) EAT the stuff in front of the birds, yes. That encourages them. I have also found that if my ol' man eats stuff in front of the bird, the bird WANTS it for himself. Kinda a rivalry thing!
