So my Green-cheek adores her papa. She may be "my" bird, but she is a total daddy's girl.
Case in point: yesterday I was home feeding and hanging out with both birds. Calypso was being a loudmouthed grumpypants so was relegated to the boing hanging by the window (her favorite spot - this was not punishment lol) while I hung out with Mishka and fixed us all lunch. Dude had been busy the previous day (the starter went out on our car and the Dude fixed it himself - handsome AND handy) so hadn't been able to spend much time with the birds, something we planned to remedy that day. So I was paying attention to Mishka on my shoulder (who seemed happy enough) and Calypso on her boing (who ignored me unless I left the room, whereupon it was demanded I return).
In walks the Dude, fresh out of classes and wanting to chow down on whatever I was making, and Mishka goes (low-key) berserk: straining toward him, wings quivering, wanting nothing more than to get on her papa.
At this point I'm dying from the cuteness and Dude is caught between being flattered, amused, bewildered and utter starvation. I promise he gets the first plate so he takes Mishka to give her some lovins. Only, she won't have it, at least not initially: she's all nippy, bossy and demanding, and bless his heart Dude is flabberghasted on why. I explain through grins and giggles she's punishing him for being away so long, she didn't do it to me but he matters more so deserves it. They then spend a while together watching TV and getting cuddles, eating each others food while I entertained Calypso (or she entertained me, what a comical little bird!).
Oh yes. Birds are AWESOME!!!
