Does this cage look good?

Hi
The pet shop near me has a cage they can order they sent me a picture of it it has bars that run up and down but also across on the sides would this be okay and safe. I really want to make sure I get a nice safe cage for my new Green Chhek.
I will try to attach a photo.

They use mostly width not height so a lot of the cage would go unused and it's pretty small. If the bird will be out of the cage 8+ hours a day it's okay but if it'll be out 4-6 hours a day I'd get something bigger

Hi, I know it can be tough, but my sleep cage for my JoJo is bigger!

Its very small from side to side. I wonder why they dont make cages properly

some people have 2 different cages for their bird. One cage will be in an active area so the bird gets it's social stimulation but then a sleep cage in a quiet area so the bird isn't disturbed while it sleeps.

I adapted to a sleep cage because of two cats that are in my house, I wanted my little one to feel safe at night! It has proved to be wonderful for both JoJo and me! The smaller cage is in my room, and if I am sleeping in, as long as he sees me, he is quiet!

Agreed with the others. It looks like a fine cage, just too small. Aim for something at least 24" x 24". You can get away with a cage on the smaller side if your GCC is out of his cage with you most of the time.



My opinion about playtop cages is that it's a bit of a waste. Having a playgym that can move around it much more useful, that way you can have his playgym near you in whatever room you are in, without having to wheel around his big cage.

Personally I have a cage with a playtop but I also have a pvc play gym and a t-stand. My boy LOVES his playtop and it's were he spends most of his time and mostly plays with toys I put up there as opposed to ones in his cage (that's his own little quirk though)
T stand and pvc play gym does make it a lot easier to move him into other rooms though.

Looks like the exact cage that came with my new foster green cheek. It's actually a rather popular cage for conures!

My personal opinion? I hate it... once you add in perches and toys, it gets really crammed up! Nothing is more annoying than having to clean out a dish because there's poop in it, even when you think you've strategically placed the perches in such a way so as to avoid that from happening... not to say that dishes shouldn't be cleaned of course, just annoying when they need to be cleaned more often due to them making a mess! Part of the territory of course! LOL


I highly recommend the HQ or A&E flight cages that are 32x21x35 (not counting stand). These are good basic cages and are often larger than cages in the same price range! These provide a lot more room for setting up a cage with various perches, toys and dishes! All of my cages have 3 dishes! One for water, one for dry food and one for fresh food. (more or less)

I like the idea of a separate playstand area and I think he will be out of the cage more than in but I may try to order the Prevue cage which seems quite popular.
