Pampa Blue Crown Conure lost 6/18/2019 ☹️
Hi, I haven’t been around for awhile. I got my first conure in May. Pampa a 3 year old blue crown. Things are going well with Pampa and me, but oh my he is a in your face sort of bird. After loads of research and thought I adopted a 3 year old peach fronted conure. I got this bird because he/she is not super bonded and a in your face sort of bird. The poor thing never sold as a baby and spent two years at a pet store. I got her from the person who purchased her from the pet store. So my hope is that Pampa and Pito (Spanish for whistle) will some day be friends and Pampa will be less dependent on me. Pito is adjusting well to his/her new home. I hate Pito’ s call. Much worse then Pampa but after the first day quieted down considerably.
Pampa has been nice and not aggressive or jealous so I feel encouraged. I swear Pito said hello and I heard a chuckle this morning. Pampa talks up a storm and is learning new words. While I prepare fresh food every morning he says “breakfast”. Sadly he has also learnt ouch and stop it. This afternoon I heard him say “do it”, which is what I say while waiting for him to do his a.m. colossal poo.

Hi Pampa,

lol my macaw was intially also named pito and I changed it because of the slang-meaning (its quite frequently used to tease/accuse men of being the opposite of well endowed) and she is a girl ...

Your parrots are lucky to have you!
(mine are still waiting for me to make them breakfast, I wanted to wake up and check the forum first).

Oh noooo. I have been trying so hard for a name, an appropriate Spanish word that is unisex and that I can comfortably say. Ameestoso is friendly but a bit long. I may just call him/her Jose. El pitido means blasting on a whistle, which is how the conure formerly known as Pito sounds. Actually the name he had was Trip, but that name doesn’t do it for me either.
Back to the drawing board. And thanks for the information.

Does Pitido have a slang meaning like Pito?

I have nooo idea- I do not speak spanish (yet).
I found out about the pito because I was curious about the name, it sounds really, really cute (if you not speak spanish and are from certain parts of the world anyway) so I googled it...
(and checked with someone who might know, and he confirmed)

But is amazing how many normal words get a weird flavour that way, appearently it is not done in certain circles to say "papaya" as a woman...
I always thought of it as just another (exotic) fruit or a plant, well you'd surprised for how many people this *also* has another meaning ...

humans ... rolls eyes again

(I named Sunny after a characters nickname in a book I liked ...and found out only when I got here I picked a really mainstream name after all / but I needed a name in a hurry -> CAV registration / and it will do for her, because for me it represents hope, hanging in there and a happy end against all odds.)

If you like Pito as a flute meaning - by all means keep it!
Just be aware that for some it means something else (like a lot of other harmless, innocent, normal words).

What is the saying again?
"If you try to please everyone, you'll end up pleasing no one"

It is your bird, you can name him/her anything you want!
(as long as you love your bird, and treat it right, it will not care)
