GCC- Ben
I haven't posted about my Green Cheek Ben in a while but I was having trouble bonding with him and getting bit when he would step up o my finger. I decided to rehome Ben because he was spending more and more time in the cage because of my fear and frustrations. He went to a home with 2 other conures and a cockatiel and it seems to be the best decision I could have made. Maybe I am not a bird person after all. I had not ever held him and since the day after he went to his new home, I have received some awesome pictures and videos. Thought you all may enjoy. Hope to visit him in his new home in a few weeks.

I have to say that it was very unselfish and responsible of you to re-home Ben because you knew it was what was best for him, so you're to be commended for that...it couldn't have been easy to do...Conures are very cuddly, social birds that bond very closely to their "person", and they definitely want to be out and with you as much as possible, so if you weren't ready for that then there is no shame in it at all, and you did something that most people wouldn't ever think to do, they'd just leave their bird in the cage 24/7...So thank you for doing what was best for your bird...

Birds aren't for everyone, and I know what it's like to have an "innate" kind of fear of things that you can't really explain and that just exist. So if you have anxiety about handling or being close with a bird, or if you become very frustrated easily, then maybe a parrot isn't for you, but there are lots of other pets that could be perfect for you. Even some birds that don't like to be handled and are perfectly happy living in large cages with lots of toys and activities to do, such as Canaries and Finches.

I appreciate you found a better home for him. That had to be hard. My conure looks almost identical to him and I don't know what I'd do without him now after 3 years. I hope you feel joy that he is happy and not upset at all....you are a good person and did the right decision if you think you had no where to go with him.
