Are there some "words" common to all conures?

Pico, gender unknown, is a hand-fed Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure, born 2015.
My YS Green Cheek talks pretty well ... when he wants to.
He says a few things, but I've been told, and have read, that two of the things he says are said by other conures.
Someone told me all conures say the second term.

1. Gimme a kisssssss.
2. beebee

Of course they are not pronounced as clearly as an African Gray could pronounce them, but after I learned the conure "accent" it's quite clear this is what he's saying.

So, my question to all conure parronts:
Does your conure say beebee and Gimee a kisssss?

If in fact all conures say these 2 things then it is the bird that has taught ME to say them. :eek: :33:

I must say: WOW! Never heard a Conure talking "budgie level". Does your Pico talk like this?
Previously I was looking for "talking" Sun Conures, and my conclusion was, they don't talk. They can mimic the cadence of human speech, but haven't heard any Sun conure talking clearly enough that a non-parrot could understand. But maybe the GCCs are just superior in this area?

oh... funny

Mine says
-KISSES (in all caps, usually half-screamed, and if she is upset she will say it in artiliary fire speed. Do not be fooled, she does not want the kisses, she is merely mocking you with your own language).
- Baby? or Are you a baby? (she is always very clear in that question mark. Is it really a question to her? we may never know, but it seems doubtful...)
- Step Up (usually in a mocking tone, because she knows she's not going to step up and she wants to gloat that she knows what you want and is just choosing to be difficult. brat)
- Thank you (usually meant genuinly... color me surprised)
- Peeeeeeeeee kabo! (very rarely said altogether; prefers to do the first part in a deep gravely voice, and the second part if its done is very soft and quiet. Complete with head bobs)

that theory might be on to something... in which case, god save us all, the green cheek conures are coming

My GCC says neither of those. She dies say hello, hi, pretty bird, Burt the Bird, No!, What's up?, And love you. There are some mumbles too but I don't know what they are, but she gives me a serious look and waits for me to answer. Her talking has taken off since the addition of Neptune, before him it was just hello, pretty bird, abd Burt the Bird. My other passed GCC only said her name Burt the Bird (thought was a boy lol)

nope... mine doesn't know english :p

but in my language she knows these words:
- 'pikice' - spots, is what she calls the birds outside, sits by the window and screams it whenever she sees a bird flying by
- 'ja' - when you ask her if she's a good girl, she lifts her foot, nods and says yes, it's so adorable
- 'mac' - a way of saying 'kitty cat'
- 'živjo' - hi/hello
- 'lahko noč' - good night, but whispers it half way when we do our good night ritual

that's as far as we got in 7 years :D

Nope, none of those sweet things come out of the Rb's beak. He prefers stuff like NO, STOP IT, QUIET, MAGGOT, SHUT UP, OUCH, GO WAY, GET OFFA ME, although he does have a knack for names, but that usually just means he pairs the bad words with specific targets, like GAIL NO, KIRBY SHUT UP. He hears the naughty stuff from my ol' man, but... I swear to GAWD he hears sweet stuff all day from ME, especially "I love you" but like Kermit's parront observed... all bird are... special!

Thanks Aratingettar for that video.

Pico says 2 things from that video, Gimme a kiss, and Come Here.
Not to brag, but Pico's pronunciation is much more clear.
I'd love to post a video, but he talks when HE wants to so I'd be recording him for hours waiting for him to talk.
I suspect the camera would disturb him into silence.
Also, since I'm a privacy freak, I don't have a Youtube account.
I hear you can be traced if you post videos .... creepy! :eek:

Up till a year ago 2 dogs lived here.
Pico said their names several times a day, but only when he was in the same room as the dogs.
Since the dogs moved out he hasn't said their names once.
I find this amazing because it demonstrates he's not just 'parroting' what he hears.
He associated, understood, used, and stopped using the names in proper context.

I think he says other things, but here are the things I can now recall that he says:
Gimme a kisssss
Beebee
Come here
Birdie Birdie
Step Up
His name, Pico
Poop (In context, when I put him back onto a perch to poop. Right when he poops he's allowed back onto my shoulder)
Stop It!!!!! ... (Again, in context of something he wants me to stop.)
That kissing sound we make with our lips ... often 3 times right after saying, "Gimme a kissss".
He also laughs, as in, "Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha" whenever we laugh.

Often he'll mix and match various words in his vocabulary.
Sometimes he'll do to himself it in a quiet mumble for half an hour or so.

My pineapple GCC Stanley says “Stanley”, good night, good boy. He’s the clearest speaker of my group.

Bindi (sun) says I’m a carrot (she’s trying to say I’m a parrot) and poop - and she gives lots of kissy noises and imitates the cadence of just about everything you say. She also imitates laughing every single time anyone laughs within earshot.

My others have no interest in speaking....they have their own language :)

Ta-dah voice very scratchy, not always clear. Except for No, and she loved to tell me no ;)

I've never heard Yoda say BeeBee or Gimme a Kiss. But he does talk to us.

Yoda's favorite thing to say is "Hi Yoda!" which he says about every 30 seconds. To him it means "Pay attention to me!!!!". :)

In addition, he laughs a LOT(sounding a lot like my husband's laugh). He laughs when he hears us laugh, he also laughs when he's performing and trying to get us to laugh. The best part is that he often laughs when one of us says or does something funny even before WE laugh, as if he knows something funny happened. :) He's such a clown.

He says I love you which most of the time sounds like "Pew Pew", however sometimes he enunciates fully into "I love you".

My favorite thing is the little kissing sounds he makes as he kisses me or I kiss him, it always becomes a little kissy fight to see who can land the most kisses on the other. :D

I've heard him say Good Morning, but not recently. And he says Fire in the Hole which is his pooping command. :)

I know that "please" and "thank you" are not words known to any conure vocabulary. But "gimme" definitely is.

Clark understands and uses...

kissy (gives kiss, demands kiss)

come on (come get me, come on lets go together, also step up)

come here (come get me)

what're you doin? (curiosity both ways)

at 6pm "chirp! chirp! chirp!........" (i'm tired it's time for seepy) {not sleepy}

*****************************

clark understands.....

seepy time? (she gives accention or negation in conure....[chirp or grrrnt]}

no {stop}

no bite {no bite}

easy, softer {chill out on the beak}

go poop {poop commence} {usually over sink or on shower rail}

good girl or boy {good bird}

bath time? {want a bath?}

********************************

Clark (and Zod) have yet to grasp...

My Golden Conure Muffin is only six months old but he does already say "Watcha Doing!" and he makes kissing noises and he has a whole bunch of stuff that is not quite clear enough to me to interpret. I leave the television on often for him which I have always done for all of the many birds I have had over the years. My Macaws used to say "This is CNN!"

And then you can get the Rival to say "that's why you're so appealing!"

Sun conure named Lemon (nickname Moonie) hatched August 28, 2014, BFA Professor Green hatched August 22, 2014, Macaw Flash hatched Sept 15, 2007
Lemon says "step up" and he laughs when you laugh. He says a long high pitched "hi", but usually when he sees water so I think that's his word for water. He also says a cute "mmmmmm" whenever you give him something yummy to eat. He used to make kissing noises and imitate clicking noises when he was younger, but he seems to have abandoned that.

He also has a special tweet he uses when he's trying to call me over. That tweet is like my name to him, I guess :) When his sun screeches don't work, he switches to tweet:)
