So my girlfriend and I have had a new pineapple green cheek for just over a week now. She was 7 weeks yesterday and is being hand-fed twice a day. She is a big girl and is starting to get around pretty well along with eating a bit of pellets.
One thing that is kind of strange, compared to our 1 year old yellow-sided, is that she is freaking out a bit sometimes. By this I mean she kind of leans to the side and bites at the front wing joint or under her wings. She will do this to each wing, she is not biting hard and there is no damage we can see. I don't think she has been in a situation where she could have been hurt either.
She is starting to flap her wings a lot and ill hop/fly a foot or so to get somewhere, but has yet to take full flight.
The part that concerns us is she is acting like something is getting at her and she will bite if we happen to reach towards her right after. It kind of seems like she has some sort of "mania" and thought we might post here about it in case there is a defect/disease/etc... that could be the cause. Maybe she is just a crazy conure?
Any ideas?
