My Green Check Conure freaks out when I wear nail polish. Anyone else's parrot do that? I just noticed the second time I did my nails. I usually don't paint my nails. It's like we go back to when we first got her, she won't step up.

So guess I'll just wear clear. Lol

The first time I had my nails done after I got Bumble, she was terrified of my hands for days. It was rather inconvenient, since I got them done for Christmas just before flying to Virginia with her-I had to take her out of her pak-O-bird at the airport and she didn’t want to stay on my finger (we were in a small private room). When I got them redone in red upon my return home, she just continually bit my fingers. I gave up!

However, I did them again at Christmas time this year and she wasn’t nearly so upset. She just wanted to bite my nails (not my fingers). So maybe in time you’ll be allowed. [emoji23]

Senegal Parrot named "Kane"; Yellow-Sided Green Cheek Conure named "Bowie"; Blue Quaker Parrot named "Lita Ford"; Cockatiel named "Duff"; 8 American/English Budgie Hybrids; Ringneck Dove named "Dylan"
They do become anything from mildly upset to absolutely terrified to mad as hell about anything on their people that is "different", just depends on the bird. Haircut, hair-color, different make-up, different earrings or other jewelry, different clothing, things like glasses or sunglasses (my Senegal nearly broke a new $200 pair of RayBan's in the car one day, and he almost ended up being thrown out the window of the car along with the RayBan's, lol)...Usually they'll eventually get used to whatever it is, but it takes time and is usually painful for the person, lol...

***I could tell you a pretty graphic story about my Green Cheek, Bowie, and my latest Tattoo that is on my right shoulder-blade, but I'll just say that I'm glad it's just a black Tattoo and not a colored one, and that's it's pretty small, because I've had to have it touched-up five times already since I got it done in 2013 due to large chunks of it suddenly disappearing...

I'll also be "That Guy" and point out that you can't EVER use nail-polish or nail-polish remover with your bird in the same room or anywhere near you, and you have to vent the room you do it in and make sure that any and all fumes/scent of it is completely gone before you allow your bird to be in that room again, because nail-polish and Acetone both are some of the most potent and deadly fumes for birds to breath-in. There, I said my peace...:)
