Hi all, this baby was born just over 2 weeks ago and parents have been doing everything. We had to assist a bit with crop filling up with too much air during the first week, but now that seems to be a non-issue.

We did notice a few days ago a smaller bit of scab (like the top layer of skin off) but though perhaps parents roughed him up a bit or something happened in next box. Today, however, we saw a lot more of the same scabs.

We have not seen the parents mistreat it but we don't see a lot of what goes on in the nesting box. When we take them out, however, it doesn't seem like they're being too rough...? They've already raised chicks before successfully.

Does anyone know if this is a skin disorder or does it look like to you that perhaps they're being too rough.

What can we use to keep area clean and disinfected? A bit lost and vet isn't available today.

Thank you!

Ricardo & Irina

Is the mom picking at him? It almost looks like she’s scraping him with her beak... or maybe dad? I’m not sure.

I'm not a expert when it comes to breeding but it could either be the mother or father attacking the bird, or there's something sharp inside the nest. But I think it's the one of the parents' doing. I don't know whether it's a skin disorder/infection or not.

Others will be able to help you more than I can:)
