Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
I tried and my toys were too heavy, but if I had a more solid rod and knew my bird wouldn't climb up to mess with it, I totally would!!

I tend to do the opposite.
I place thing on curtains in locations I don't want my Fids to go to.

My curtains are destroyed already so it's not for that. I am afraid that they will ingest the cloth material when they are ripping them up.
Plus there are those little hook thingies that are real sharp. They could get injured real quick.

There are plenty of places they can go and hang out without landing on the curtains.

The curtains is one of the FEW places that Skittles is NOT allowed (not that he doesn't try!). Mainly because I don't want him regurgitating on them (which is what he'll do). I swear, him and his 'fabric fetish'. lol.

I had to put venetian blinds in my windows because Skittles flew into them several times when he got startled so now he doesn't. I wouldn't dare put anything in the window for him to go on, BUT, my windows don't have those 'tic-tac-toe' wooden thing-a-magigs in the window pane.

I did try hanging toys from a pole attached to the wall, but Skittles kept chewing on the wall edges.

That's not hanging toys from curtains.
That's hanging toys from the curtain rod.

Oh, I did a way more crude version of that with my Callum before I moved. I just tied them to tacks and tacked them into the wall ABOVE the windowsill. And used a curtain rod as a window perch for Callum. He didn't care much for either, he just rather be on or near me (closer than my window)

Haha, that is interesting to say the least!
No, Remi is not allowed to hang out near the blinds or close to the windows. My cockatiel used to destroy the blinds. Still have the damage...

What little hook thingies....? I have no idea what you're talking about.

He doesn't really tear the curtains at all. He's way more interested in perching on the window itself, where the latches are, and chewing his toys. He does climb the the curtains though. ;)

Also, the curtains are cheap, so I'm not worried if he snags them with his nails. Like $10 a panel on Amazon, and machine washable!

I don't trust Skittles with ANY fabric, unsupervised. With his little 'fetish', I'd probably end up with little fabric conure eggs hatching fabric conures on the 21st day.

That is too funny...:p

Yeah our windows have those cross hatches on them, and the one in the photo is in our officer right by my husband's desk. There's another one like it on the other side by mine. He loves hanging out on them, he can be near us and play. There's also a perch by the other one. I never worry about him flying in to windows in the house, he looks at them all as his landing spots. I put clear shelf paper on all the windowsills so they're super easy to wipe up.

The hook things are metal and in the shape of a capital U.
The connect the fabric curtain with the plastic eyelet that runs along the curtain rod. The base of the U is very sharp so it can pierce the fabric if the curtain.
If I had time I would take a pic but I got to head out to work soon.

anyway I have had to place thing on the top of my curtains (valence?) at key locations to keep some of my birds (mostly Bella) from landing there and shredding the fabric.
Maybe hanging toys would be a good idea, give her something more appropriate to destroy.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... thanks for the clarification. I wasn't trying to be argumentative, I didn't know that was a thing! I was worried I had some sharp bits somewhere I wasn't aware of, but I don't. Our curtains are grommets, not the sharp pin attachments. Which I had to look up, because I had no idea. :p Yeah that could be bad.
