Pampa Blue Crown Conure lost 6/18/2019 ā¹ļø
I have had Pampa a BCC for a year now. Itās been a bit rocky. Even with research I was ill prepared. But Pampa and I, in a large part thanks to clicker training, have found our groove and are living happily.
So the big decision. A year ago I fell in love with a Jenday baby at Petco. I was about ready to give into impulse and buy him but he was sold and I got Pampa, a 3 year old blue crown instead. That very baby Jenday is now being rehomed. A mother with young children has him and although she did research she finds with young children she just doesnāt have the time, and he is loud. She also questions whether the hustle and bustle of small kids running and playing may be over stimulating and adding to the bird calling.
My concerns: will two hands-on friendly conures be too much for me? Will I be able to live with the Jenday noise level! Will a noisy Jenday cause my relatively quiet Blue Crown to turn into a screecher (this being my biggest concern). Should I be worried about raising a youngster to sexual maturity.
Reasons for getting him: socialized to children and coincidentally bonded to a classmate of my granddaughter who is campaigning for me to get him. I love the look of Jendays and this bird is way cool, he does a little tapping dance with his foot. ITs THE SAME BIRD THAT STARTED ME DOWN THIS PATH. And mainly I canāt help but think having another feathered friend in the house, even if they arenāt besties, would be company for Pampa when I am not home. I am the only human in my relatively quiet house.
My two biggest concerns is having the time and energy to meet the social needs of both birds and the noisiness of a Jenday. I do not understand how multi bird owners handle or have time for one on one time.
Opinions and personal experiences welcome.
