Aloha,

Is there a resource that will detail the development stages (when, what to expect, how to handle, etc. ) for a Green Cheek Conure?

Our Coco was born in February, and we want to learn as much as we can to raise her well and happy.

Thanks [emoji1431]

Welcome - Coco is awfully cute! She looks pretty darn happy having a splash there :).

There is a wealth of info in the threads of the conure forum on a variety of topics. Is there anything specific you are looking for information about? Lots of us conure people here who are happy to share what we’ve learned or experienced. Biting, training, diet, birdie puberty, favorite toys, cage set ups, vet visits.... feel free to ask what questions you have :).

Thank you!

In some other forums that I read there are documents with FAQs; the thing that worries me is my unknown unknowns.

I’ll keep reading old threads to learn more.

Here’s a question [emoji3]

I bought Coco toys that are made to be shredded; but, I read in one of the threads that giving her (or him; don’t know the gender) materials that she could use to nest will bring about nasty behavior. Is that so? Is it OK for now that she’s just 4 months old?

Thanks.

Green cheeks generally hit puberty around 1 year old, so I wouldn’t worry much about nesting behavior yet. It really depends on the material being shredded as well. My conures all love yucca shredders and palm leaf shredders and have never tried to make nests out of them (even through hormone season). I never give mine paper to shred as it’s pretty easy to make nests out of. I also don’t have any sleeping huts or areas in their cages that could be perceived as good nesting sites, so have not had any issues.
