Green Cheek Conure
After the tragic death of my 17 hrs old Green Cheek Conure almost a month ago, we have been missing her so much, but we understand we have to let go, and continue living, so, we went to a Parrot Sanctuary in Pensacola, FL. and we were able to rescue a Cinnamon Green Cheek Conure, 4 years old male that was there for 2 months.

His name is Ringo. The first 4 days he would bite hard to the point of drawing blood out of our hands. We gave him patience and love, and he has made a lot of progress. Currently he seems to be relaxed and he does not bite hard anymore. Only soft, when he want something. Lol. He is very smart and learning quickly our routine.

The only thing is that he eats mostly pellets and apple and banana. He does not eat vegetables. I there any trick to make him like vegetables?

Yes.
Just keep offering fresh veges daily, for as long as it takes ... days, weeks, months, years ... and vary what you offer ... and try raw then cooked.

Keep this up for as long as it takes.

Congratulation on your new addition! I am sure that the new guy will mend your broken heart and you will have many happy years together :)
Remi does not like veggies either; if I manage to get him to eat some cooked peas and broccoli, it's a success, lol. He loves fruit though.
Petey is pretty much the same. She absolutely adores cherries and orange, but again that's fruit.
I just keep trying; I have had more success with cooked veggies though because they are mushy I guess.

Congratulations! Thanks for the rescue/ re-home!
My Quakes dig veggies, my GCC not as much...she does like cooked stuff. And red hot chili peppers!!! It's great to give chili peppers, lots of vitamin A. And like mentioned obove monkey see monkey do, my GCC will grab veggies off my plate and try and grab any veggies headed to my mouth the sneaky girl!! Hang a leaf of romaine right at favorite spot and sometimes the annoyance will make them nibble. Good luck!

Tori - Pineapple Green Cheek Conure
I’ve found that sometimes Tori wants me to chop up vegetables into little bite sized pieces and sometimes she likes slightly larger pieces that she can tear apart herself. Sometimes she likes her food all mixed up, sometimes she wants them layered on top of each other. Tori prefers red bell pepper to anything else in the world and will dig through all of her food to find her cherished peppers. This can be helpful as she will often nibble at something other than pepper as she searches for her favorite item. The other thing I’ve found helpful is holding her food bowl in my hand. She is much more interested in her fresh food if she can use me as her personal perch! Who knows, maybe she just doesn’t like to eat alone? Keep working at it long enough and you will find something your baby will like! Just be sure to try new textures and colors and maybe even sitting with him for meals...Good luck!

Hello & Welcome to the PFs.

My deepest condolences for your loss.

Congratulations on Ringo, very exciting.

I would start with the sweeter veggies, add a little sweet potato to the mix and gradually add carrots, sweet peas etc...
I always add a fruit to his chop to make it more enticing.

Levi usually regrets new things a few times before accepting.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to you and Ringo. May he bring comfort as you continue to grieve.

As others have suggested, continue to offer the dreaded vegetables and make yourself a similar dish of "chop." Eat in front of Ringo and demonstrate great satisfaction with head bobs and "mmmmm" noises. Parrots are flock creatures, and you are a member!
