antisocial behavior

My sun conure is eight months old, iv had him sense he was three weeks old. He is very wary when I go to touch him and some times even flys away. He will always step up when asked and will always go on my sholder when I put my hand there for him to. He dosn't bite except when I put on his flight suit. Is it normal for him to be so wary sense iv had him for so long?

The first three months I had him I was with him 24/7 cause I was unemployed. But when I started working he stayed with my ex and her green cheek although I don't know how much she handled him. When I leave the room he screetchs and I guess he's calling me. If I'm gone for more then 5-10mins he'll fly in the room and look for me. Any time u put ur hand out he will step up he will sit on my sholder rub me with his beak. And lately I put out my finger and ask can I pet you? And he let's me but some time flys away I think I just need to keep it up.

It sounds like normal behaviour to me.

They have their own personalities and does not always want to be touched.

Sounds normal to me too!

Our girl tends to have days where she favours me or my husband during out of cage time. If I have to go out in the day and Dave is in the shop with her, she favours him on the evening because I have been "naughty".

Vice versa also applies!!!

However, if I have been gone a good few hours for two days in a row, she is very much all for her Mam!

It's so complex in it's simplicity it's untrue!!!

Sometimes I feel bad. I work for the NY bored of ed and I'm gone from 9am-12am and he is asleep when I get home. Sometimes he dosn come out till Friday night when I get home. I try and make up for it by leting him stay out the whole weekend. I feel bad but have no choice. I give him fresh food with fresh fruit and water every mourning and he has lots of toys and I uselly put the radio on before I leave.

I was temp laid off from my job today, so now I will be able to spend more time with him.
