Green cheek conure
Hello all

I just a green cheek conure this week and I named him Taco. Iā€™m trying to give him a balanced diet. He is 4 months old. Iā€™ve been giving him quinoa with chopped kale broccoli chicken and yams. Does anyone have any other recipes? Anything with rice and beans? Thank you

Welcome to you and Toco!
I hope you offer some seedmix as well, and pellets and occasionally some nuts ?
Since your new one is young it's great to offer lots of viriaty now so they are good for the rest of their life at trying new stuff.
Red hot chili peppers , romaine, cooked sweet potato, squash, zucchini, radish, blackberries. The list of yummies is long.. ;)
Thanks for joining can't wait to see pictures of Toco
Rice can grow toxic to bird bacteria in the fridge, so just serve it fresh. We had a post on here awhile back about that. Cooked rice is good, but I only use the day of, some people freeze but it's so cheap and easy I don't.

I have two Green Cheeked Conures named Kesha and Koko
can anyone tell me how to wean my two gcc's from seeds(especially sunflower). I have tried but they basically won't eat. I give them fruits, veggies, and other goodies. But I'm worried that they will get an over-dependence on the sunflower seeds that will lead to poor health. Thanks

A crossover Quaker Scuti (F), A Sun conure named AC, A Cinnamon Green Cheek conure Kent, and 6 budgies, Scuti Jr. (f), yellow (m), clark Jr. (m), Dot (f), Zebra(f), Machine (m).
introduce pellets and slowly start diminishing the amount of seeds. Like in my den I have seeds, maybe ten percent of the cup but in the cage it's basically pellets only, they figure it out. Just change it slow.
