To add or not to add...

I have a bonded pair of gc (Tyghe is a male yellow-sided gc, and BEAUTIFUL; and Celebi is a female, and I'm told she is a cinnamon gc) that I've had for over a year now. They were each about 8 months old when I got them, 2 months apart. They are as attached to me as they are to each other. Celebi, rolls over on her back all the time (which is what made me decide to get her in the first place). Tyghe, is more reserved but friendly enough. They follow me all over the house, and they are so adorable to watch! Now, my granddgt has a male Turquoise and is thinking of giving him away. She wants me to take him but I'm afraid adding another male would upset Tyghe. Tyghe and Celebi each have their own floor-length cages, and Carswell (the Turquoise) has his own, tho not a floor model. I've told her I can't take him because I don't want to upset Tyghe, but thought I'd ask you all and see what you think. I also have a pair of 'keets and a pair of 'tiels (they're all male and never leave their cages). The reason my granddgt wants to re-home him is because she's having a baby in Nov and is afraid she won't be able to give Carswell the attention she gives him now. She's young and her husband is in the Army, and overseas at the moment.

I wouldn't.
You have your hands full with all of the birds you have already. Adding another guy to your bonded pair is most likely to go bad.

Does she actually really want to give him away? I mean --IF she Fully loves him-- it almost sounds like maybe she just needs Maternity Leave from Birdie-Care? Are you or her interested in you offering a few months' foster care to her birdie?

No, I don't think she really wants to give him up. There is just so much going on in her life right now. She's only had him a year. He was given to her from someone else who had him a little while then had to give him up, the poor baby. He's about the same age as mine, but I know about having an odd number of birds...one always gets left out. I don't think a "maternity leave" would be helpful.

I wrote a msg last night but just as I clicked send, we lost internet (storm above us), so I don't know where it went.
Anyway, thank you for responding. Yes, I do have a lot going on, but I've always had lots of animals, so it's nothing new to me. I also have kids here, so when I have to be away, they do what I'd normally do. My main concern was that if I were to take on Carswell, he'd be a 3rd wheel. I'm not exactly considering taking him in, but if I have to, I would...I just wanted to make sure there was no actual REASON for not doing so. He's the same age as the conures I have, but he's always been a 1-bird pet. He'd probably have to be let out by himself, at least for a time. BTW, I'm not even SURE that my Celebi is a f...just going on her coloring (compared to males of the same type) and how she responds. She is a yr old, and there have been no signs of any eggs, so...
I'm actually encouraging my granddgt to deal with it, or find another home for him. He's already been passed around 3 times! Just when he bonded with her, she had to leave him for a month to go take care of her ill MIL in another state. When she came back, her bird was indifferent to her and didn't respond like normal. I told her to maybe look into a bird rescue. She lives in Washington.

Yes there is a REASON.

It's a gamble.
If you lose the gamble it could be tragic.

There is a real chance the 3 will not be compatible, regardless of age and gender.
One could get attacked, or even killed.

To me that is REASON enough to not add another bird to the wonderful bird family you have now.
Please don't risk it.

Where that bird goes is not your problem.
