Got him yesterday! He's a brown throated x orange throated. The short list includes Potter, Fawkes, Doxy (small biting HP fairy), Piper and Pippin (we love musical theater!) Any suggestions? I love magical or literary names. Thanks!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... wellllllllllllllllllllll...
"Doxy" just really jumps out at me... clever, contemporary...
but the whole 'short list' is dandy!
What a cutie!

Wow! He's beautiful! ❤ I like the names Pippin or Doxy, for what it's worth. Whatever you pick, I'm sure it will fit him perfectly! Congrats on your new baby

Your guy is beyond adorable...as are the names. The one thing that crossed my mind is you might want to be careful of the name Fawkes. If he is a talker I could see that name becoming, errr, problematic as far as the bird proncuning it and "it" sounding a lot like a not so nice 4 letter word.

Well, his lovely face looks like a sunrise, or a Morning Glow, if you will...so I would say Pippin. Welcome to the forums!

He's lovely!!

Lovely names, but don't go for Doxy, although it is a nice name! Don't name him after something with a characteristic you don't want!! I'm a strong believer in nomnative determinism (I don't think that's quite the right name for it). My dog is called FUBAR, which you might or might not know, needless to say he makes life very difficult whereas our previous dog called Wilson (after Greg House's best friend) was an absolute treasure!!

A very good point, thank you! I hadn't thought of that!

LOL on FUBAR, and you also make an excellent point. He is going to be a handful to work with because he is extremely bitey and doesn't want to leave his cage. I got him at a local pet store, and even though he was hand fed, I don't believe they were working with him properly. That's okay, I love a good project!

Yes, I've been owned by a yellow naped amazon and a parrotlet. When Milo (parrotlet) died in 2012, I was devastated. Haven't kept a bird since. This conure is going to be a challenge for sure. He's 7 months old, hand fed, not very tame and very bitey. I have my work cut out for me!

LOL!!!! You made me spit out my tea, thank you! :D

I like Fawkes... it's kinda fun because it sounds like Fox, and it may be a reference to Guy Fawkes, but it's also Dumbledore's Phoenix which is awesome.
