I have two green cheek conures with the same set up but only one has healthy looking feathers. Is it over preening, dry skin, or diet?

I think both festgrs look fine. What has you worried? What do you feed?

Hmmm...I can see why you are concerned. This is probably one of those things that is best looked at by a Certified Avian Vet. How long have the feathers looked like that?

On the cinnamon (or perhaps pineapple) bird (top) the feathers look fine. The normal colored bird (bottom) the feathers show a lot of wear on the edges as if they have been horribly chewed.

Her feathers have been like that since I got her over a month ago. She preens a lot more then my male, so I dunno if that’s why her feathers are like that.

Over preening can be caused by anything from stress to illness. Since you just recently adopted her I would say that this is definitely a good time for that first vet visit. In the mean time, I would definitely try bathing her once a day, or every other day. It might help to alleviate any itchiness that might be causing her to mutilate her feathers.
