First off, my apologies for my absence. I'm sure you all missed me terribly, but its okay. I am here now. LOL. I'm just messing with you all.

Seriously though, Skittles did something today that has me a bit concerned. I'm too embarrassed to ask the vet and I tried finding an answer online.

Skittles likes to preen my hair. In fact he loves too. Especially my facial hair because it curls. Often times though, it feels like he's "pulling" on it, but I let him have his fun. But today it felt like a bite and hurt and he was "licking" my cheek. Turns out he had picked off the scab from a pimple I popped and ate it and was licking the oil/blood that came out. Should this concern me? It's embarrassing, but he seems to go for scabs wherever they are and I stop him normally, but I can't see my face without a mirror for some reason.

Mine have done it his and are still living.....
But pimple aren't good they contain bacteria.
Scabs not a big deal, and my birds are so fast at getting to these! I had a scratch from a tree branch, ugh ....
Welcome back! I missed you all like crazy!!!

Welcome back, and yaaa, you had been missed!

As noted above, the fresh liquid is the dangerous stuff. As a general statement, it's not a great idea to allow your parrot to remove scabs as they commonly keep digging.

I'm glad that its not a major concern. My primary concern was the licking. I've read time and again about the dangers of saliva. Since birds don't have the means in their immune system to fight off "human bacteria" its very dangerous to expose them to our saliva. Zit puss is actual infected bacteria so it had me especially worried. He seems to be just fine. Right now hes inside my shirt, pressed against my heart asleep.

It's good to be back. I still don't understand why Skittles kept me in a timeout for so long. lol.

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
Noodles did this to my arm today--only it was blood---puss could definitely be a danger, but if he seems okay, roll with it! "Parrot owners alone together!!!!" LOL (feels like a chant).

I have faith that you will reciprocate the favor, lest Skittles begins to feel unloved or that the relationship is one-sided.
