Yellow sided conure
Hey everyone, i am new here .. just created an acc
I got a yellow sided conure. He is 3 months old. Its been a month he is very cuddly, loves to sit on my shoulder and take a nap. But suddenly his poop has changed. Its more watery with little solid. I feed him apple, corn, coriander, pellets.
He doesnt eat seeds at all. I got him sunflower seeds, he only shreds the shells and throws it. Even if i break the shell and give him he just nibbles a little and leaves it. I thought birds love seeds. Is there anything else seed or nuts i could feed him. Its December and the weather is cold here. I am from india so the weather is not unbearable. I want him to eat some nuts and seeds as well.
Today morning he was very low napping most of the yimer.. i guess its because of the cold weather.. he was okay later in the evening.
Could someone help me..??!

Hello and welcome. Poops after veggies are watery normally. If it happens at other times then it's more concerning. You can feed a little yogurt with live cultures as a probiotics.
Not eating seeds is odd, check if they seem moldy or spoiled. When I first got my GCC Burt the Bird she had a sinus infection and for some reason her beak was kind of soft she would not eat seeds at that time. After treatment , and eating a healthy diet if pellets and veggies her beak firmed up and she ate seeds. ....have you offered a millit spray, many birds love this tasty treat!
There is a radiant heat panel for birds sold on Amazon called the sweeter heater, the smallest size is good. You hang it outside the cage and ad it puts out a lot of heat make sure not to cover the cage and that they can move away from it. If you feel your place it too cold and that is something you are interested in.

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
That having been said, you really don't want to feel them a lot of seeds (a few seeds=okay, but it shouldn't be a big part of their diet--too high in fat and lacking vitamins in many cases).---pellets (or balanced chop mixes are better). It is weird that he isn't eating them so I would definitely consult a vet because even if they aren't healthy as a huge part of a bird's diet, they do usually love them.

Corn and apple alone= very unbalanced and lacking important amino acids etc. Corn is basically empty calories/filler (carbs/sugar) and the apples are also sugary. Look up some chop recipes online and see if you can make things more balanced...Is he fully weaned? Could it be that he hasn't been introduced to solids correctly? 8-12 weeks is when most are fully weaned, but 12 weeks is just 3 months and some do take longer...That is why a vet will be important.

Birds hide illness very well so if you have noticed a change you need to get him to a doctor.

Yes he is fully weaned. He's got full wings and flies free in my house. He also comes when called. His beak doesnt seem to be soft or anything. He does eat pellets. Today he looks better. He was chriping but he sits puffed up. I guess he might be feeling cold.
What are other nuts i could feed him. Can i feed him cashews, i tried almond scrapped he just licks it. He doesnt eat it
Below i have attached a picture where he comes for scratches

You only mention sunflower seeds. Is it possible he just doesn’t like those particular seats? My conure dislikes some foods that most Conyers normally like. There are various types of seeds that birds do like so that’s why there are seed mixes. My conure for example really loves the safflower seed and doesn’t care for millet. Have you tried other seeds like you would find in a seed mix for birds ?

I haven't tired other seed mix. Today i crushed walnut, cashew, almond together and i have given him. He tasted it. I dont think he liked it much. He resumed to eat his pellets.
