I wanted to get a consensus from the forum on how you feed your GCCs.
Right now my 10 month old GCC ( I have had him since he was 4 months old) is getting a Zupreem mixture that consists of- zupreem pasta blend, zupreem veggie blend and Zupreem Pure Fun (about 1/4 of the amount as his other pellets). This is available to him all the time. I also give him 3-4 kinds of veggies and 1 kind of fruit per day in the morning. He usually goes after his favorites first. I am trying to get him to eat a larger variety of veggies. Should I give him the fruit later in the day and only veggies in the morning? He is maintaining his weight, his feathers look great and he is now flying and playing in and out of his cage for exercise. Trying to make sure that I am doing everything right.

Thanks for any guidance that you can provide.:green:

CC: Not sure why the photos of Rin with a Blackberry Face are sideways.

I feed mine zupreem, and other pellets, and seedmix, available all the time. I feed veggie twice a day. I feed fruit once or twice a week. My GCC certainly likes fruit much more than my quakers and parakeets. But for me I only offer it one meal a week usually. Seasonally when berries are available I feed more. If I buy a bag of berries they will get them everyday till I finish the bag.

Sounds like you are doing great! Love to see a picture of your baby :)

I uploaded two photos of Rin, but they are sideways. He has a purple beak, because he has been eating Blackberries!

A crossover Quaker Scuti (F), A Sun conure named AC, A Cinnamon Green Cheek conure Kent, and 6 budgies, Scuti Jr. (f), yellow (m), clark Jr. (m), Dot (f), Zebra(f), Machine (m).
if you send pictures from phone it will be sideways, you need to put on your cpu or laptop so windows/mac establishes the top, then it will upload fine. It's just a phone thing.

In fact you need to open the photo on computer, spin it, then save it how you want it.

Zupreem Pasta Blend and Veggie Blend are nutritionally the same, just different shapes. Supposedly, they taste different, but if you eat them yourself you'll find they taste almost identical. But your bird my enjoy the variety. I just wanted you to know they are nutritionally the same.

Zupreem Pure Fun I would limit to a teaspoon a day. Better yet, save the safflower and other seeds for training treats.

I think you're onto something with the veggies. As others have said, give the fruit as a separate treat. Do include fruits and veggies high in Vitamin A, like cooked sweet potato or carrots.

The Pure Fun is mixed in with the other ZuPreem pellets in a large container, so he gets only a few seeds in the mix a day. He will pick out his favorites first and then eat the other pellets. Thanks everyone!

Green cheek conure - Sydney (Syd) Hatched 2/2017
Syd is great at picking and choosing his favourites so I limit his choice until he has eaten healthy. I give him the odd piece of fruit but not every day and usually a piece of what I might be eating. I am always amazed that something he has turned his beak up at becomes his favourite thing when it's on my plate. The rogue!
