Hi I am really excite to be getting a GCC soon and I want to give it the best life possible. I spent a lot of time researching cages and I settled on this one

I am now thinking about cage accessories and set up. If you don't mind posting cage setups you've done for your GCC I would really appreciate it:):rainbow1:

Hmmm, seems that your Thread had gotten missed... Sadly, it does happen, so with hope, my Posting will bump it back up the current Thread list and others will see it.

Regarding the cage: Assure you obtain information regarding the spacing of the bars and the thickness of the bars themselves. Great looking cage can become a nightmare if the bar spacing allows your Parrot to place its head between them. Light weight bars can easily bend during normal use and result in a like problem.

Cage set-up is a big subject as the choices are many.

- Most all Parrots enjoy sleep /napping perches in the upper third of the cage.
- Whether on the outside of the inside, near all Parrots want some kind of 'cover' /blind (hide behind) to provide them a sense of security that they are not clearly seen from outside the cage.
- Food on one side, water on the other side (left /right) with in the cage.
- Consider both hanging toys and foot toys as it allows various placements and uses.
- How much is to much! There is a fine line that most people come to understand when their Parrot is fighting to get around inside the cage.
- Remember that the outside of the cage is available also.
- Top of the cage provides a wide selection of non-hung toys to be moved around by your Parrot.

Have fun!!!

I’ll share pics, but you have to promise to ignore the dirt....Wednesday is my night at the rescue and I’m too pooped to clean when I get home :). It has turned my pictures sideways, so please tilt your head when you look at them lol. I just discovered that it’s very difficult to take pictures of the inside of a cage. The first 2 pics are Stanley’s cage (which is the same one that you purchased I think). Stanley doesn’t like to fly, at all, so his cage is much busier and more full. He loves to climb, chew and make noise. He likes shredder toys, jingle toys and things that he can run on and hang off. The next two pics are of Baby and Tango’s flight cage - it’s 6’ long, 3’ deep and 6’ high (so took pics of both ends). They are both avid fliers, so all of their stuff is around the edges of the cage because anything in the middle interferes with them flying around in there. They too like noise makers, shredders and chew toys. They do not climb around much so they tend not to use as many “pathways”. These two are also prone to chewing rope perches, so just about all of their perches are wood. Not sure what is helpful - but I have 5 cages...so happy to share if you are looking for specific toys, perches, etc.

I also tend to hang fabric behind their cages, as all of my conures are prone to food-flinging and I’d rather wash a sheet than scrub my walls every day.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Jen's excellent setup is a reminder to allow for toys/accessories when contemplating a cage budget!

I have the cage you linked to and find it a good size for one.
