Lately my conure seem to like to put one leg on one finger and the other leg on another finger and sort of spread out. Pretty far too. Like as far as she can physically split them. Is this normal or a maybe something that might lead to triggering hormones?

I am hoping it is not foreplay.

Sounds like a game. But be careful, easy way to dislocate a hip. Haven't heard if this or seen as a breeding behavior..no worries there

Sunny the Sun Conure (sept '18, gotcha 3/'19). Mr Jefferson Budgie & Mrs Calliope Budgie (albino) (nov'18 & jan'19). Summer 2021 Baby Budgies: Riker (Green); Patchouli, Keye, & Tiny (blue greywings).
My petstore Conure when I got her at 6 months old had a balance problem - turns out, she has one non-working claw. What you describe sounds like the way she always wanted to perch or stand. I worked with her for quite a while before she could perch & stand normally. (The one claw still doesn’t work; I believe it was probably congenital or else a hatching-injury that was treated before she was ever sent out for sale.)

Like Laurasea said, with yours it’s probably just a game. But — you might want to look her over carefully to make sure you don’t see any small injury to a foot or claw, etc.

I'm sure it is not injury related. She gets around everywhere with no problem. Balance is great.

She definitely has her game face on while doing her splits. I just wanted to make sure it was not the wrong kind of game.
