Senegal and green cheek conure?

Hello all! So in a couple months i will be getting a senegal parrot, but i’m scared that my other bird won’t like them, or that they will fight. i’m doing a lot of research on their behavior, but nothing says if green cheeks and senegal’s are a good match to be around/interact with each other. This probably doesn’t make a lot of sense, but i’m so confused.

I’d keep them clipped, especially at first, during quarantine period and after.

I have always heard it is recommended to keep both birds separate - with separate cages of course, and separate play stands. Encourage them to stay in their own spots. Never let one in the other’s cage.

If they’re near each other it should only be in neutral places, and only if they haven’t shown aggression toward each other.

Also - make sure GCC gets attention first so pecking order keeps him as a “priority.” He’ll especially resent a new bird if suddenly he does not get all the attention first.

Be cautious. It depends upon the nature of the bird but Senegals are kind of known to be aggressively anti-social with other birds. I've seen examples of Senegals peacefully coexisting with other birds but my Sidney would eat my two Blue Crown Conures given the chance. Even clipped, he managed to get to my old girl Tootsie who was obliviously preening on a perch about 15 feet away. He full out tackled her and attacked even before they hit the floor. I threw (and broke) my tablet and dove at them to break it up but I was too late. That encounter cost her a toe and me a lot of heartache. Senegal Parrots have a very powerful bite for their size and a Green Cheek would almost certainly come out second best. So I would advise being prepared for having separate out of cage times and never ever let the Green Cheek get on the Senegal's cage while it is inside. Its toes would be very vulnerable.

Tootsie fully recovered, fortunately. She is a tough old bird and is currently perched on my left forearm as I type this all puffed up and contentedly working her beak.
