I saw on Craigslist a family living around 15-20 miles from me is wanting to re-home their tame hand fed Green Cheeck Conure and is asking $50.00 re-homing fee for him. The local pet shop wants $400.00 for a year old Green Cheek.

I would be tempted, but I think my wife would probably gtive me the boot if I brought another bird home. She still isn't used to Tiki waking her up in the morning before 8:00am with his whistling, chattering & occassional squawking. She's quick to point out how Senegals are supposed to be apartment birds. Well that is what I told her anyway.:D

RIP Charlie, Green Cheek Conure,
Lelu, parrotlet and
Poe the budgie.
That is a good price! My green cheek is actually quiet in the mornings, even when we sleep in. He usually is happy to play by himself, snack or keep on snoozing and the only noise we hear is when he decides to "fight" with his bell. Then he's all chatty and squawky towards it but he sleeps in another room so we don't hear him unless we're already awake. My parrotlet used to yell for me if I wasn't up when she wanted up. Imagine a crescendo of beep-beeps getting louder and higher pitched every twenty minutes or so. It's amazing how different each bird is!

My GCC is super quiet in the morning. He's pretty quiet full stop actually, unless he hears Rosella's or Lorikeet's outside :)

No Sue, I don't cover Tiki's cage at night. He's in a room by himself with minimal light at night and pretty quiet. He's great up until 7:30-7:45, but then after that it's game on. I've started opening up his room around 7:45am now and giving him one of his foraging toys with graped in it which keeps him busy for 30-45 minutes.

Mine is the same. He doesn't make hardly any noise until my mom's peach faced love bird starts in. He mostly just talks in his cute little voice.

I think you should wait for your bond with Tiki to be more concrete and secure before you bring in another bird. I don't want to bring in another bird for awhile more because I want to make sure Bella is secure before doing anything else.

I think most of us would want more birds in our hearts but when it comes to the actual adding to the flock we think with hour brains I hope. 50 dollars is a good re home fee. My friend has had a GC for 10 years and she is so quiet you would never know she is there. She speaks and chirps very softly.

I agree, Tiki is coming along nicely. He has started letting me scratch the back of his neck and now will come up my arm across my chest and snuggles under my neck while I scratch the back of his neck and chatters and talks up a storm the whole time. I would hate to disrupt this bonding until I have had him for awhile longer. My wife laughs all the time because by the end of the day, I'm beat. She says that Tiki has got me hoppin all day.;)

That's your problem...He's a MALE! :11: I rarely ever hear or heard a peep out of Sammie. She's extremely quiet, even in the morning. Then I had to go bring home Sydney. He's not a screamer, but bright and early he likes to start talking and whistling and whatever. We keep them both in the living room and don't cover them. Even though I can hear Sydney in the morning he's not loud enough that I can't sleep through it if I want to.

Peeko is on a normal sleep schedule, but I'm not. He screeches starting at 10am and continues nonstop until I wake up in the afternoon (or, get up, more like. He wakes me up as soon as he starts, but by then I've only had a couple hours of sleep). I've tried everything people have suggested and nothing works. Other than that, he's a quiet little bird. Some green cheeks are quieter than others, that's for sure. But yeah, $50 is extremely cheap for a green cheek. I hope the low price doesn't encourage an uneducated buyer to take the little guy/girl if you don't get him/her :c

Hahahaha! Rio is up at 7:30-8 every morning. The things I hear are "good morning, beep, whistle, scream, click, scream, whistle, click, good morning. Like an alarm clock that gradually starts off soft..

Wow, my wife and I literally put a $50 down payment on a baby not two days ago. If I had seen this first, I'd have been all over it. :(

Yes, but look at the date of the original post. It's been over two years ago. You should have checked Craigslist first, they are being posted on there all the time for $100.00-$150.00. But these are from backyard breeders. So you take your chances on getting a good bird.
