Sunny the Sun Conure (sept '18, gotcha 3/'19). Mr Jefferson Budgie & Mrs Calliope Budgie (albino) (nov'18 & jan'19). Summer 2021 Baby Budgies: Riker (Green); Patchouli, Keye, & Tiny (blue greywings).
So my Sunny makes these sounds... especially when settling in at night, but at other times as well.

(btw, The visual is cloudy, because using the front-facing camera it goes thru the screen protector -- which she has partially removed & chewed . This video is about the sounds, so, just look away...)

There are budgies chirping in the background. So the actual Chirps are not from her. Her sounds start with little "hroo hroo" type noises.

I didn't catch the full range, of course. The same volume-level of sounds can sound like happiness, contentment, irritation, or scolding. Or happiness.

Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy! :)

Green cheek conure - Sydney (Syd) Hatched 2/2017
Syd does this as well, but he makes me laugh that he throws in human words alongside. He is in earshot now and hearing your video has started him off. I always think it's pure contentment and reminds me of a young child chatting to himself before sleep.

LOL I have just restarted the video because Syd obviously wants to have a conversation again. You have really started something now.

We have five conures (3 GCC, 2 Black Cap) and they all make similar variations to these sounds. The oldest one does this and a kiss noise. The black caps have a slightly different sound. It it sounds like a laugh. I could swear it is the beginning of them trying to talk, because my male Eclectus does strange noises too when he is trying to work out a new phrase.

Don’t fret from this, I believe it means the bird is very comfortable with you. Ours do this in the evening when it gets dark and start to get tired. And then they all get in their boing in the cage and start doing their noises together. I’ll try to record some of it tonight.

Oh, I'm definitely not fretting. I love these sounds she makes! Her noises on my shoulder make me happy, and I wanted to share. :)

I know Sun's tend to have less local range than some other parrots, and I think some of her incomprehensible sounds are her best attempts to imitate my speech, or possibly television voices. She makes slurping noises when I drink -- not actually slurping, but she times then when I swallow so I know she's joining in! And some of her weird noises I think are her imitation of me laughing (usually at her). She clearly has budgie-imitations too, and I used to know when the woodpecker had been attacking the front-siding because she would woodpecker at me when I got home.

Contentment for sure! :p My Amy will make ( I can only describe them as "coo'ing") sounds in my ear, especially while we are "outside..in the car" I actually think it is his way of saying Thanks for an awesome time Dad ;)
