Our GCC seems to want to bathe in his water dish every other hour lmao

not generally a problem during the early day, but it is kinda too cold for him to be doing that at night, and I am worried he will do it in the middle of the night, or worse fall in his water bowl (he's still a bit clumsy when he stands on the edge of his dish) So I guess my question is, should I leave his water in his cage over night? and is it a problem for them to take so many baths in a day? I am worried he will catch a chill or worse.

Thanks much for any and all advice ;)

I would remove the water dish when it begins to get cool.

Could he be bathing because of some pest?

Is there a cage-mounted water dispenser which allows only his bill in to drink so that he can still drink whenever he wants?
Do parrots drink from metal tube water dispensers with metal ball in the tubend?

That's a great idea Robert, thank you.

I have seen those bottles at the pet stores, but the employees say they aren't good, maybe i need to try that for night/cooler evening times.

He is clean, no pests, just enjoys jumping in the dish and splashing until the water is gone, we got a certificate of some sort that said he had no feather disease, mites, and the like, and the date on it was a month ago, and his vet check when we brought him home came back all good, so I think he just likes to be wet hehe

My GCC uses the water dispenser with no problem. It still gets dirty, but I'd rather him use it than bathe in his drinking water.

I have seen water dispensers that are plastic. It is probably better than the metal kind. Maybe for now you can fill his water bowl only a little bit so it won't look as fun to splash around in but enough so that he has water for the night. Just an idea, not sure if it will actually work.

My Sennie uses his water bowl for baths as well. I just change out the water after he's done. He will take a bath like every other day.

My GW uses his water bowl occasionally, by the end of his bath, there is no water left!

my gw loves to bathe in her water bowl. Especially when my wife vaccumes. The water flies, the bird screames and flaps, and uses her head like a bottlebrush in the bowl! when she is finished she goes to her swing and takes a nap.

I think if he was getting cold, he would have stopped doing it by now. Just an observation. I think you just have the world's cleanest hookbill. :D
